Selling my personal 1985.5 Porsche 944 n/a to fund restoration of a '91 944 cabriolet. This is a rust-free car which has been documented to have spent its entire life in Georgia. Smooth clutch & drive-train. I have a thick maintenance file on this Porsche going back to day one. Way too many repairs to list here. Most repairs were done at Jim Ellis Porsche in Atlanta, GA. I purchased this car from the 3rd owner who worked at AutoAtlanta, a renowned Porsche facility near Atlanta, GA. The original worn seats were removed & newer power Porsche 996 seats installed. Timing belt & water pump replacement completed in 2014. Repainted 20 years ago, but car has been garage kept & paint shows beautifully with only a few imperfections when examining closely. No dents or scrapes/scratches. A/C will need charging. Heater works fine. The sunroof cable is kinked in the back & is currently locked in the closed position. The cruise control was repaired & works flawlessly, as do the power windows & lights. The previous owner stated the odometer seized on him a few years back, so mileage is inaccurate and exempt. The engine was rebuilt with heads redone in '06. Buyer will have choice of either "phone dial" rims or "cookie cutter" rims. The car came with cookie cutter rims, but I put period correct phone dial rims on it. The tires are all matching & have about 80% or better tread. All brakes & pads are issue free. The exhaust is factory & quiet. No cracks in the windshield, etc. K&N cone air filter. After market dash cap installed. Buyer can also choose to have a beautiful original steering wheel installed, or the Momo shown in the photos. Stereo cassette & updated door speakers. At Christmas, I drove this car on a 1,200 mile round trip with no issues at all. No oil burn & averaged 28mpg at about 80 mph. This car is being advertised locally & if sold locally, this ad will be deleted with no warning, even if bids have been placed. Even though this car has a lot of miles, it is a fine example & one of the nicest available in this price range. I'm confident about this car & have not set a reserve price. On Jan-24-16 at 13:48:19 PST, seller added the following information: Additional information: No rust in battery box. If you're interested in a 944, insist on this, because if there is rust, rain will fall down on the passenger floor area & could possibly short out the cars computer which is located behind a wood panel where the passengers feet rest. I removed the battery & took a photo showing this area is rust free. What you see is ice in the photo due to really cold temps lately. If you're interested in a 944 (or any other 80's Porsche) it is very common for the plastic cog in the VDO speedometer assembly to break. Replacement cogs are available & in the past, I've purchased a cog & replaced it. There are minor scrapes on the front lower spoiler, but no cracks (see photos) The clock works. I welcome inspections prior to bidding. I've taken a lot of time to describe my 944, but I want to be clear this is a 31 year old car & the sale is AS-IS. I'm only able to relay the information as it was told to me from the previous owner. I buy cars online & don't like surprises, so I hope to hear "its better than I thought." as I have on previous car sales.
