Vehicle Detail

I bought this car in Louisiana from a gentleman who was over 70 years old. He told me that he had owned it for only about a year, and he bought it from the estate of another older gentleman who had owned it for many years (decades) and had taken excellent care of it. The odometer shows 48,151 miles now and it is my understanding that this is the actual mileage. The car runs and drives, but it has been in storage for years and is not ready for the open road quite yet. The carburetor or choke (or both) need to be rebuilt because it stalls until it is warmed up. The brakes occasionally feel grabby and should be rebuilt for safety but will stop the car in their current condition. The heater blows warm air, the lights work, the radio works, the turn signals work, the vacuum operated wipers work but are slow. The engine sounds smooth and revs freely from idle to high rpm with no knocks or strange sounds, but when actually driving it and applying a load to the engine, I do hear a spark knock. This may be due to bad gasoline or perhaps too much distributor timing advance, I'm not sure and haven't dug into it. I do not think it is serious. The car does drip a small amount of fluid- both oil and antifreeze, but the levels are always properly filled. It does smoke a small bit through the tailpipe as well, but this is common for flatheads that are not driven very much. The body is in great shape. It appears to be a southern car. I have found no rust or patches in the floors or the frame sections (it is unibody construction). The only place I have found any filler is behind the rear wheels in the extreme bottoms of the quarter panels. There are a couple of small areas of paint bubbling in the rear wheelwell lips, but the lips and the wheelwells themselves appear solid. The car has been repainted years ago. I would call it a driver quality paint job. It is faded in areas, and it has a few minor dents and scratches. One of the hubcaps has a few dents in it. Please email or call me if you have any questions. I strongly recommend any serious buyers view and drive the car in person, or pay for an inspection. Due to ebay game-players, if you have feedback less than 10, please contact me or I reserve the right to cancel your bid. I also may cancel the auction early because it is for sale locally. I will assist in loading for delivery, but transportation is the sole responsibility of the buyer. On Dec-04-15 at 23:01:47 PST, seller added the following information: The engine spark knock noise is heard occasionally while driving and only when the car is under heavy load- it is not continuous when driving. I'm sure that some folks would not even notice it at all- I just want to be honest in my description of the car.
