Vehicle Detail
"Barn find" 1969 Wood Bros. Cale Yarborough NASCAR Ford Torino GT Fastback. This car was just discovered stored away in a semi trailer where it has been for the past 25+ years. The previous owner claims it was used as a promotional car or pace car at Charlotte Motor Speedway which I believe to be true. The car doesn't appear to have been a full competition car however it was not a street car either. There's no way anyone would have gotten away with driving this car on the street years ago with open headers, window straps, and deleted headlights. I assume this was a race day promotional car that would have been on display at the track, but we'll leave it up to the next owner to piece together the car's history. The body is very straight and the patina on this car is perfect. With the exception of only a few small decals all the lettering is hand painted, even several of the sponsor logos on the front fenders are painted. We haven't cleaned the car or touched it, this is just as it was found. The interior is equipped with riveted aluminum panels, taped & padded steering wheel, fiberglass bucket seats, Stewart Warner gauges, and a 6 point roll cage. The engine appears to be a high performance 302 with a 4spd. I don't know if the car ever had a Boss 429 in it but we didn't get any Boss parts with the car. The previous owner claimed it ran when parked and sounded very loud. It had open headers with two NASCAR style side exit dump tubes. One has been lost but we have the other to go with the car as a template. We have not attempted to start the car, again this is just how it was found. The floors are excellent, rockers are clean, and body mounts are all good. Frame is excellent. The entire bottom of the car was painted white and now just has surface rust. It would clean up nicely. The trunk appears to be good but we can't find keys to open the trunk so we haven't even seen the inside yet. We do have the ignition keys. Glass is all excellent. This is a special car with history to be found! Certainly a treasure for any NASCAR fan. Personally I would get the car running & driving and leave everything else just the way it is. Clean vin tags on the door and dash. There is NO title, car is sold on a Connecticut bill of sale only. We can not provide you with a title. If you're state requires a title there are classic car titling companies available for that purpose. The car can be viewed at our shop located in Haddam, CT.
