NO RESERVE!!! 1978 Pontiac Trans Am HURST T-Tops Bandit Low Profile Shaker NO RESERVE!!! This auction is for a 1978 Pontiac Trans Am with the very rare Hurst T-top (same as Bandit movie car) option. The car is also equipped with the low profile shaker for the hood (also, same as the movie car). This vehicle has the Turbo 350 in the trunk. This would make an awesome project, especially when you consider that the lucky winner could build a motor that is more say, suitable, for this iconic ride! No boat anchor 200HP motor...build your own 400+ HP and do the Bandit justice! These cars are VERY POPULAR and are becoming increasingly hard to find, especially with these two coveted options that will make an awesome spot-on black Bandit. Due to popularity, the body panels and replacement parts are readily available and reasonably priced. If you can get past the ugly original paint (what's left), the car is a pretty good starter for restoration. This car will make an awesome winter project, Christmas gift, graduation gift, etc. PLEASE look at all the photographs. What self-respecting, red blooded, American has NOT wanted one of these cars??? Here are some details of this 1978 Pontiac Trans Am: EXTERIOR: Originally silver in color. The vehicle retains what's left of the original factory color. The Hurst T-tops look good and retain the original factory markings (see Photographs). The trim around the T-tops look good. There appears to be only mild surface rust around the roof near the T-tops and around the rear window glass (these areas are normally gutted from decay). The door jambs have corrosion where the lower door, rocker panels and quarter panels meet. The quarter panels will need replaced, along with the door skins and rocker panels. The front fenders (lower), front end assembly, hood, shaker and trunk, etc. look to just need conditioning, prep and paint. INTERIOR: Originally red interior. The factory buckets and rear seat look great for the age. The back plastics are scratched but the red vinyl looks nice as well as the stock red in color console. The gauges look decent and the red in color dash pad is faded and cracked. There are four (all of the pans necessary) NEW floor pans located in the rear seat area (need to be installed). Behind the rear seat looks nice. TRUNK: Nice condition with original factory tags on the underside. The Turbo 350 transmission (I have not checked the numbers) is located in the trunk and I'm sure would need rebuilt. The trunk pan would need replaced. UNDERCARRIAGE: Brand new floor pans (All the ones necessary for a complete floor-See photographs) are located in the rear seat area. The front suspension, engine compartment and side structure rails all look decent (rust but no rot that I observe). The remainder has a little corrosion at the rear section of the frame (corrosion by the trunk pan). GLASS: All fixed glass is intact and not damaged minus the front windshield, which is cracked beyond repair. TITLE: Clear Missouri PAYMENT: A non-refundable Payment through Pay Pal in the amount of $500 is due within 24 hours from the conclusion of this auction. The remaining balance for the vehicle will be paid in cashier's check or cash at/before the time that this vehicle leaves my possession. Checks will need to clear my financial institution prior to the winning bidder or transport taking possession on the winner's behalf. SHIPPING: This is the responsibility of the purchaser. I will be available for coordination with the transport company and/or the high bidder themselves for local pickup. The vehicle will roll just fine.
