This was a great workhorse for me for 10 years. I purchased it at 79,000 miles and drove until two weeks ago. Here are my mechanics comments regarding when it started to smoke and stopped on me two weeks ago: - Found the heater hose under distributor blown, likely cause of overheating and smoke - Vehicle has been badly overheated this time - passed compression test, but has a lot of heat damage to below components... - Distributor internal seal is melted or was leaking before; in any case it is full of oil, cap and rotor are damaged as well, vehicle has a heavy misfire - Spark plugs and wires are destroyed again, wires were totally melted to engine block and we had to pick off the melted rubber - Upper inner timing cover is completely melted and timing belt is slack from the heat damage - Engine still may have internal heat damage after we fix what we can see now... We can fix everything above in order to try to run the car and see if the engine is overall okay, but it has so many miles and has been overheated quite a bit so there are no promises...on top of that, fixing everything above is $1,800.00!
