Vehicle Detail
Please take a look at photos, including data plate. On first look this Monza appears to be a common car even though it is the desirable Crocus Yellow and Black interior. Paint was changed to a stronger yellow in the past. The car actually is one of the rarer 140 PG versions. Few were ever optioned this way. I bought the car as was still needing carbs and linkage which I installed in hopes of taking her back to original because it is a rarer optioned one, but my wife is insisting I get the garage opened up for her car for Winter. The rust issues this car has are in all the common Corvair areas. See photos, cowling especially. The rear quarters appear to have had plastic applied in the past and the upper rear cove trim is missing. The Yellow exterior and Black interior really makes this car draw attention and folks tell me they thought it was a 60's Camaro until I showed them it is a Corvair. The seats have splits at the seams but the foams feel in usable condition. Floors front and back are sound..no rust through. Though not drastic there is some minor dampness in rains so I figure this is from the cowl needing repair. The wheels are GM rally steel I believe are from Camaro. I took one hubcap off so the photo shows this. Same wheels are on all four corners under the hubcaps. They are 14 inch. The engine runs well but at idle with the transmission in gear there is a knock which is noticeable. It seems to be quieter when the engine is cold. That said, I drove the car from the Seattle area all the way to New Mexico were it is now and it gave me no grief. It was the same sound now as then. Does not seem to be getting worse or better. I was told it might be a piston pin, but I am not an expert on engines. As you can see the engine is clean and it fires right up. New points and condenser. No smoke out back. Heater works very well also. All the electricals work except the radio which does power up (you can see the light glowing inside) but no sound. Might be the speaker. The transmission is the correct "orange splash" version and it does upshift crisp and downshift is smooth so seems to be doing as it should. I can offer to work with you on delivery depending on distance. No reserve and I do have clear title in my name. Car sells to the highest bidder. Ask questions and I'll do my best to answer. On Sep-27-15 at 18:43:58 PDT, seller added the following information: I've had several ask about driving the car some distance. I will say it is reasonable it will but I'd think twice about the tires and would not drive high speed on Interstates due to the possible ball joint wear. This is a 50 year old car that has not enjoyed a total inspection nor rework other than what has been done on changing the heads to 110hp config. the car does start up and runs well. Brakes, all lights and gauges/warning lights work.
