Relisted due to a non-paying bidder. For sale is 1965 Ford Mustang deluxe power top convertible with factory four speed and power steering. Built at the Dearborn assembly plant on May 15th, 1965(est). Body series: convertible – décor group bucket seats. Exterior color is vintage burgundy. Interior is white crinkle vinyl pony interior with black appointments. Was ordered through Washington, DC DSO. Consecutive unit number: 728542. This car has had five years of upgrades to make it a head turning “sleeper”. New professionally rebuilt 1969 Ford 351W Stroked to 393. Runs on premium pump gas. All new components used in the engine, 100 miles tops on engine since rebuilt. Have 3000, 7000, and 8000 limiters included. Never hit 5000rpm. · Lazer Hydraulic Roller Cam 517-508 Lift, duration 230-236 at 50. Data from the engine builder, these are very heavy duty with very wide lobs. · Crane Hydraulic Roller Lifters · Scorpion 7-1 Roller Rockers · Melling Oil Pump · Coyles timing chain set · Monte Carlo support bar Engine estimated at 450 HP by the engine builder. Aluminum flywheel with steel fiction surfaces. ARP bolts throughout Stage III clutch and heavy duty pressure plate (Can handle 600hp) OEM Style 1965 289HO Z-Bar, excellent feeling clutch. Light-weight racing starter. Spins engine without issues Optima REDTOP® high-performance Starting battery, new in 2015. Prothane Engine mounts (1966 style, one inch lower than 1965) 1969 OEM style heavy duty radiator with AC high air flow fan and shroud. New in 2015. Power steering pump switched over to a 1969 design with a fluid cooler. Transmission: Ford toploader with period Hurst four speed shifter. 8” Ford rear end, with a 1967/1968 heavy webbed center section professionally rebuilt using new 3.55:1 Posi gears and internals. New Speedometer gear used to correct the MPH reading. Brakes: New SSBC front and rear disk brakes with duel master cylinder and manually adjustable proportioning valve. Brake and clutch pedals pivots converted to ball bearing support. (no more plastic sleeves) Suspension: front; new Scott Drake heavy duty 480LB springs with new Monroe shocks. Rear; new Scott Drake five leaf heavy duty springs with heavy duty shackles and KYB shocks. Wheels: 14 inch Cragar SS mags. 5” in wide front and 8” wide back. These are years old and have pitting. Tires: New BF Goodrich Radial TAs. 70/205s in the front and 60/245 in the rear. E-Brake cables: new Scott Drake cables end-to-end. Heater system: new OEM style heater box with all new diverters, ducting, heater core, resister, and fan motor. Steering wheel rim has cracks, but has a beautiful original design. Headlights, horn, and turn signals work. New right and left Scott Drake rear quarter window regulators. Radio: Turns on, can be a little scratchy, but picks up a station or two. Top: could be original, shows much wear and has a small hole on driver’s side rear section. Power top opens and closes without issue. Interior: could also be original, shows much wear and has tears, but not bad for 50 years of use. All gauges work. Center console is new with Scott Drake wood trim. Body: Car was repainted, before my purchase, and has flaws on the front top fenders and hood area. There is one bubble on the lower front door. There is a rust repair in the driver’s rear inside front fenderwell. There is one dent in the rear trunk lid. Paint has chips in many places. Please see pictures. I tried to cover all areas honestly with two pages of notes but with a 50 year old car there will be areas I missed. HQ pictures uploaded. Local viewing can be arranged.
