GOLD IS WHERE YOU FIND IT HISTORY Some people are lucky enough to find gold in their own back yard. Or ... why not next door? Recently, my neighbor told me that he had decided to sell his beloved 1948 Ford, and asked if I would like to come over and have a closer look. He explained that soon his wife would be having surgery and also, because of his own health concerns, he needed to sell the car. I love that hot rod! A California beauty. However, at the end of the day, because I already have too many toys, I explained to my neighbor that I would be willing to find a new owner for the Ford, and who knows? That new owner just might be you, because GOLD IS WHERE YOU FIND IT! HIGHLIGHTS 1948 Ford Deluxe 2-door Sedan, Ford 5.0 HO fuel injected, V-8 engine, NEWLY REBUILT C-4 Transmission (with receipts), Mustang ll front end, Power Brakes, Dual Exhaust, and Air Conditioning. COSMETICS The paint is approximately 15 years old and, as such, has its share of checking, some oxidation, and other imperfections. The advantage of older paint is that nothing can be hidden. I have been able to find no signs of cancerous rust in the paint, or underneath the car. There is a narrow line of rust, from left to right, inside the trunk, nearest to the back end of the car. This does not appear to be extensive, and should be an easy fix. All chrome, glass, and lenses are in good to excellent condition. The windshield looks excellent, with no cracks, pitting, or rock chips. Some rubber could be replaced to be up to the standards of the rest of the exterior. The tires are in very good condition, with excellent tread. I can find no age cracking between the treads, or on the sidewalls. The rear tires are 255 60R15, and the front 225 60R15.THE INTERIOR, in my opinion, looks as good in person as it does in the photographs. All carpets, vinyl front and rear seats, door panels, chrome gearshifter, control knobs, interior door openers, window winders, chrome dash, gauges, Lecarra leather steering wheel, front seat belts and more are in good to excellent condition. The headliner is particularly nice. There are no rear seat belts. Latches should be located for the passenger and driver wind wings.MECHANICS But the best is yet to come! The Ford 5.0 HO engine starts right up, runs cool and strong, has EXCELLENT OIL PRESSURE, and does everything these favored power plants have done so well for hot rod enthusiasts over the years. The newly rebuilt transmission shifts smoothly in all gears, and is happiest going into drive or reverse from park when the engine is warm (a cold engine could stall). Good brakes. Excellent exhaust system. WHAT WORKS? Among other things, the AC, heater, horn, oil pressure, voltage, and temperature gauges (I'm not sure about the gas gauge), tachometer, right and left exterior turn signal lights (front and back), license plate light, headlights, including high and low beams, running lights, windshield wipers, inside door handles, and hidden exterior driver door release, located just under the car, near the driver door lower rear corner. There is no exterior passenger door release, but it will open from inside the car. Also working are the interior hood and trunk pull releases (located near the left side of the steering column), and more. Currently, the speedometer and clock do not work, and there is no emergency brake. The above is based on my personal observation, and is not a professional inspection or warranty. You can expect that some things may not work up to your own, or your mechanics standards, and that work will most likely be found, that you or your mechanic would like to do. INCLUDED Includes a new door weatherstrip kit, front door seal, trunk lid seal, and other rubber seals, jack, lug nut wrench, removable antenna, front license plate, and more. Does not include a spare tire. Also included are over 12 receipts documenting work, largely done over the past 3 years, including the previously mentioned rebuilt transmission, torque converter, shifter and exhaust tips, oil pan gasket, crank and selector shaft seals, synthetic engine oil changes, new brake hoses, ignition lock cylinder, throttle cable, turn signal cam, new brake master cylinder, throttle sensor, power brake booster, ignition module, alternator, wiper blades, and transmission filter service. Includes good California title, with registration current through January 2016. Bill of Sale will include "This car sold as is, with no guarantees or warranties expressed or implied." PAYMENT TERMS: $500. deposit due via paypal on or before 2 days from close of auction. Balance due on or before 7 days from close of auction via cash (in person), or bank wire transfer of funds, please. Bottom line? With this fine classic you can go pedal to the metal, have a lot of fun, and not break the bank! ANY QUESTIONS? Feel free to email, or phone my cell (909) 838-9160 All the eBest,Craig
