1997 saleen Explorer XP8 clone, no accidents, clean/clear title, $500 NO RESERVE. I will try to describe it to the best of my knowledge but...please ask questions... I am the second owner, I bought it about 14 years ago from south bay ford. All saleen parts are genuine saleen. You can see some of the work I did through out the years on this car by going to cardomain dot com look up 1997 ford explorer and this car will be front page on results 7th car down. It was show quality for many years but the last 5 years, it became my daily driver and so followed all the dents, dings, scratches, etc. I have too many project and so I'm finally ready to let go of this one. This would be a great daily driver, it runs great and mpg is not bad for a v8 5.0. To my knowledge, this was the last year of the 5.0's on the explorers. 98's and up have the 4.6. It would also be great as a parts donor car if you have an XP8 since saleen parts are no longer in production. parts are easily removable by removing screws. I used silicone for a snug fit, not glue. Complete body kit is in great condition minus the front bumper. Long story short on bumper...I cracked it at a parking lot. I was planning on repairing it but my girlfriend threw it away thinking it was garbage so, the one on currently is a Chinese fiberglass, and that one has two small cracks as you can see in pics. Also, the passenger side skirt has a small crack barely noticeable and easily repairable. The paint on the rear bumper is cracking in places but there is no damage to the urethane itself, very common on most XP8's I've seen. I upgraded the tail gate to a 2000 tailgate and shaved everything off and did a custom saleen logo where the plate originally went. Over time it began to develop cracks and paint/plate bubbling as you can see in pics. I have been looking for the pink slip but I can't find it so I will give a signed off application for paperless title to the winning bidder. I will continue looking for it but no guarantees. Plates are current but will expire October 8th of this year. I will pay the non operation fees so you won't get charged back plates unless you ask me to do otherwise. Its an 18 year old suv so detailed condition/defects listed below....Be prepared to arrange your own shipping or pick up from Lake Tahoe, California. I can probably deliver it to southern California for cost of gas to drive it down there and air fare back (around $250-300 non refundable) but I would much rather you pick up. I think latch mechanism just needs to be greasedfront driver door locking mechanism sometimes gets stuck when you use the key to lock/unlock, works fine with remote. windshield replaced last year due to rock chip. had airbags but removed two years ago (back to stock suspension)Saleen carbon fiber hood was sold (now has stock ford hood). hood shocks are worn and don't hold hood up. Plus, I live in one of few zip codes in California where you don't have to smog your car so I never bothered. car will NOT pass smog until you fix this.battery died after being stopped for a few months but still under warranty. Ill take it in to get checked. if found defective, I will replace with new one free of charge. new starter, new fuel pumpK & N intake filter needs to be cleanedHas flowmaster series 40 muffler and I cut off tail pipe behind flowmaster to get a more aggressive sound. Sounds like a big block beast! all 4 catalytics are still on so no problem with smog inspection there.
