Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is my very rare 1974 Karmann Ghia convertible. This is the last year for the Karmann Ghia. It is a very rare factory Ravenna green (only year for this great color) hiding under the California gold. It is a rust free California blue plate car (still has the California title which matches the license plate on the front of the car). The car runs and drives excellent. I bought it about 3 years ago, and was going to do the cosmetic restoration, and put it back to the original color and interior, but was never able to get to it. I did, however, have it checked over, and gone through mechanically by the best VW mechanic in our area. It has the original drivetrain, with many new parts, such as gas tank, tune-up, carburetor rebuilt, new muffler and tailpipes, battery, etc.. It has a nice set of wheels with new looking tires. It runs, drives, shifts, and stops as it should. The motor purrs like a kitten. Everything works on the car, except the clock (which works intermittantly), and it needs a new emergency brake cable. It has the rare autostick transmission (which works excellent), so it is very simple to operate (no clutch). Only year for the park gear feature also, which is very nice to have. Very fun car which anyone can drive. This will make an excellent show car, as there are very few that are this rust free, run this good, and the factory color will make this a rare beauty. Being a California car it is virtually rust free underneath. The rocker panels and floor pans are original, and in excellent condition. This one will save you thousands of dollars in rust repair, typical of Karmann Ghia's. It has a nice solid body, with excellent door jambs, etc.. Check the pictures, and you can see how nice these items are. These are the things that make this the right one to buy. Right now it is a very good drive around and have fun car. It gets the thumbs up, and comments everywhere you go. And smiles, it gets lots of smiles. People just love it. I hate the thought of parting with it, but circumstances beyond my control make that a reality that I will regret the rest of my life. I have wanted a Ravenna green Karmann Ghia convertible most of my life. It was one of my dream cars. But my loss is your gain. This is one of the fastest rising classics VW's around right now. They are getting hard to find, and the prices are soaring. Now is the time to invest in one of these classics, before they get unattainable. With that said, here is your chance to own this rare classic. This is the perfect restoration candidate. With a little time and effort you will have one of the nicest Karmann Ghia convertibles around. The good points on the car are: (1) the floorpans, (2) very good mechanically, (3) almost completely rust free, (4) the factory color, (5) the fold down rear window in the top, (6) has the fold down rear seat, etc.. The bad points: (1) one of the small rods on the top frame is bent, so top does not go completely down without effort (easy fix, and does have a brand new top boot, still in the box), I would have already had it repaired, but did not want to take the inner top loose to do it till restoration time., (2) needs cosmetic restoration, and (3) I can't keep it. If you are the winning bidder, I will require a $500.00 non-refundable deposit within 48 hours of auction end, and the remainder of the payment within 7 days of the auction end. The car will need to be picked up within 10 days of auction end, as I will be losing my storage for the vehicle. I will accept cash, cashier's check, or bank transfer only. The car and title will only be released once funds have cleared. Also, if you are the winning bidder, please contact me promptly when the auction ends to set up arrangements. Please do not bid if you have negative feedback, or less than 5 transactions without contacting me first, or I will retract your bid. Please, only bid if you intend to follow through with the purchase, not if you are unsure, or do not have the funds. Please look at the pictures closely, or contact me to arrange a personal inspection PRIOR to bidding. The car will be able to be inspected prior to bidding. Again, my loss is your gain, so good luck, and happy bidding.
