Up for auction is our 1966 Ford Thunderbird Town Hardtop. I believe the miles to be 59,000 original miles. This car is a very rare Q code, making it a factory High Performance 428 with a whopping 345 horse power and 462 foot pounds of torque. It’s also a very rare color combination (code VM) of Emberglo Metallic two toned with a Wimbledon white top and (trim code 24) Emberglo interior. It has the optional Dual Range C6 automatic transmission (Code 4) with the standard rear differential 3.00:1 ratio. This car was very highly optioned from the factory including; “Select Aire Conditioning” (A/C), “Highway Pilot Speed Control” (cruise control), 6 way power seat, power windows, power vent windows, 8 track player, power door locks, rear window ventilation, overhead console (featuring; seat belts, flashers, low fuel and door ajar lights), remote drivers side mirror, fender skirts, full wheel covers, swing away steering column, power steering and power disc brakes etc.etc…. This car is truly loaded with options. The overall condition of this car is remarkable. It was sold new here in Colorado and has been here since. The selling dealer was Dave Craig Inc. in Alamosa, Colorado. Being a Colorado car since new has truly preserved the car from corrosion. Our climate is high and dry, so there is ABSOUTLEY NO RUST on this car. The underside is immaculate and retains all of it original body color paint and undercoating’s. After carefully cleaning the undercarriage we found many of it’s original factory inspection marks done with paint or wax pens. All of the body panels and floors are factory Ford sheet metal and have never been replaced. This car has also never been in a collision and has a very straight body with great lines. With having a recent professional paint job that was followed up by color sanding and polished to a mirror finish, makes this car really POP! The exterior is in beautiful condition and shows very well. All of the stainless trim is nice and the chrome plating is original and shows well! All of the glass is clear and free of cracks or stars. The hubcaps are original and very nice with no curb rash. Five original steel wheels and four newer Michelin white wall radial tires making the car drive very well. Under the hood is very correct and all there. The 428 big block has been rebuilt and runs like a dream. No major leaks and is really dependable. All of the factory Cruise Control and Air Conditioning components are there and intact but are not in working order. Everything else under the hood is functioning properly. The transmission works as it should and shifts nice with no shutters or leaks. The brakes work great and have been rebuilt or replaced to factory specifications. Dual exhaust system with factory mufflers giving the car the correct sound and performance it deserves. The interior is most impressive! Everything is original and very nice. The dash is beautiful with its dual cock pit styling! All of its chrome trim and working gauges are perfect with no pitting or cracked lenses. The steering wheel does have two small splits, but retains all of its rare Cruise Controls and swings away as it should with the ignition switch in the “off” position. The seats have never been recovered and only show VERY lite wear on the driver’s seat. All of the carpet is original and is very nice. The door panels are nice, but again the drivers side armrest is worn through in a small spot and I think is fixable. Perfect headliner and functional overhead console. Working power windows and vents that open and close smoothly. The power door locks were working, but now are not. The wipers, turn signals, power driver seat, radio, speedo and odometer all work perfect. For an original interior, I feel its remarkably nice!! The trunk liner is new and looks perfect! When you open the trunk the courtesy light comes on and everything looks new. It also retains its original jacking instructions on the inside of the trunk lid. If you are looking for a very rare T-Bird that is ready to enjoy, then you should seriously consider this car! Its very reliable, comfortable and fast! What more is desired in a classic car!! I also feel these cars are gaining momentum in the classic car market place. So BID WITH CONFIDENCE knowing you are getting a great car that will only appreciate in value.
