My 1973 Volkswagen Type 2 Bus - "Wild Westerner" (A rare-breed of bay window bus, noted for its wild factory color scheme) Strong runner that starts reliably. I bought the Bus in Eugene and drove it 600+ miles home to the Bay Area (barely made it). Many repairs and updates since purchase in Feb of 2012, and has served as my daily driver since 5/12. Not much of the previous history is known. Purchased with 1500(-ish) miles on odometer (obviously NOT the true mileage). I have since put +/-6000 miles on the Bus in the past 3.5 years. I love this bus, but I am selling it because I have too many toys, and not enough brain-space to keep it up. I'd love to see it go to another VW enthusiast, who would like to bring it back to its former glory. Clear title car, that doesn't need to be smogged in California. Video of the bus starting and driving (8/22/2015) - VIDEO Video of the bus running with walk around and view of engine (8/22/2015) - VIDEO Some of the repairs that have been performed on the Bus...• Replaced Ball joints• Replaced front and rear shocks• Wheel bearings • Clutch kit repairs• Plugs, cap & rotor, wires, points and condenser• Valve gaskets replaced• Fuel lines and filters (filters regularly replaced), fuel socks• Time serts and heater hoses• Proper rated Hankook RA08 tires with <5000 miles • Fuel tank repaired, and fuel gauge repaired (and working!)• L&R tie rods replaced• Steering drag links• Transmission flange seals• Manifold stud repair• Brake master cylinder• Drums, cylinder , and shoe repairs• Working horn (!)• Replaced the original Solex carb setup with new dual Baby Weber carburetors (much more reliable, and easier to adjust) The good:• Strong runner, would be confident in traveling distances in this vehicle.• Mostly all original. Full restoration would not be unrealistic for this bus. The bad:• Missing 2nd row seat - I bought it with out this.• Some dents, and botched repairs from previous owners • Minor wear in original headliner. Some rips and one small repair, but in fantastic shape for the age. • Minor rust in front floor boards (passenger side wheel well). Easily repairable.• Minor surface rust on rear engine hatch door• Drivers seat is in poor condition. The springs may poke your butt. But, it does have the original straw(?) stuffing. • Missing some interior panels. Front kick panel, sliding door panel, driver-side wall panel. • No heater, system needs to be completely repaired• Front windshield has milky haze due to the age of the laminates... may be the original windshield (amazing for a 40+ yo window) The ugly:• Window seals seem to be mostly original, and should be replaced. (I have not done so, because we never see rain in California anymore)• Dents and damage mostly contained to the passenger side exterior - dents on rear tower, and sliding door (shows really bad attempt at repair from previous owners)• Needs new rear bumper mounts and repair (Will include rear bumper, I just don't have the mounts)• Front nose has been drilled for front tire mount (looks to have been drilled multiple times.
