Vehicle Detail
1993 Corvette C4 ConvertibleSince this car is 22 years old, it has quite a history. In putting this item on Ebay I got their Autocheck report, which gave me a much better idea of the history than I had known before. This car has been in rust-free California since 1997 when it had about 51,000 miles on it. The Ebay Autocheck shows that it was in an accident when it was just a few months old. I cannot tell what the damage was but it must have been minor, as it was in the original owner's possession for 3 more years. It was then sold at auction which leads me to believe the car was originally on a 3 year lease. It appears to have come to California on 3/31/97 when it was just four years old. Then on 9/8/97 the California DMV verified the mileage at 58,016 miles. Interestingly, the Autocheck report says that just 4 days later the mileage was 93,286 miles when it passed a smog inspection. I do know that the computer for the car has been replaced. As far as I can surmise, the odometer must have been set improperly when the new computer was installed, showing 35,270 more miles than the car has traveled. Therefore, it appears that the true mileage is 85,637miles. It was repainted once in the original Torch Red by a prestige auto paint shop. (Most of the cars in their shop are Rolls Royces, Aston Martins, Ferraris, etc.) It also has aftermarket leather seats with the 40th Anniversary logos on them. The seats are not of the same quality as the paint work. There is an excellent aftermarket Kenwood stereo with both cassette and disc. The car indicated 113,000 miles on it when I bought it about five years ago and it now shows just under 119,000 miles (subject to the 35,270 mile descrepency mentioned above). In that 6,000 miles I have not had any kind of problem with it. The car starts instantly and runs great. I put in a new Interstate battery a couple of years ago. With 300 horsepower in the standard engine the car is powerful but not overly so. It has the 4 speed automatic transmission. The only problem with the car is that the interior lights blow a fuse. Since I use it mostly during daylight I have never had the problem fixed. Also the little door that covers the cup holders is hard to operate. Because the car is quite outstanding to see I have been invited to have it in several parades over the years, with high school princesses and dignitaries. At least since the car came to California it has been kept in a heated garage. I am selling it reluctantly because I have acquired two other sports cars. I hope I have as much fun with them as I have had with this Corvette. It is a pretty and a trouble free car. Due to the indicated high miles and the Autocheck report, the reserve price has been adjusted downward. It is a very dependable Chevrolet and has lots of miles left in it -- without spending a lot of money. If you want a great weekend touring car at an affordable price, this is it!Shipping up to buyer. We will assist with the process. Payment via cashier's check, which we will clear at the bank before signing over the title and releasing the car.
