I purchased this car 2 years ago from a gentlemen who had started the restoration a few years earlier but hadn't completed the car. At the time I purchased, he was looking to retire and had lost energy and interest in his project. UNLIKE most SS Chevelles here on EBAY, this is a true SS Complete with the Build Sheet. The car has been in SC and GA since new so there has never been any rust, it still retains the original floor pans, trunk pans and quarter panels. The car has many, many new parts with receipts, from the trim and bumpers to the interior, engine, transmission etc. The car is an original 396 car but no longer retains the matching # engine. The current 396 (non matching#) and 400 turbo tranny has been professionally built . It runs out and shifts great, feels strong and has a nice cam lick. Although I've had a ton of compliments on all aspects of the car including the paint , the paint is , however, the only negative I can speak of. The paint for the average Joe is a 10 but I'm not the average joe and I'm very anal about details. At very close inspection it has its flaws ( most folks can't see the flaws through the beauty ). It probably looks better than most that are advertised as perfect. This is not a perfect show car but it is an awesome example of a well restored, driver/cruise inn enjoyable , great driving , sounding , running car. . As for proof of being a true SS, the vin matches the code sheet-- you can go online and decipher the codes given on the build sheet- they are as follows: ZL3=SS 396 conversion, M40= turbo 400 Automatic, A51=Bucket Seats & astro vents, C08=Vinyl Top, D55=Wheel well Moldings.
