Vehicle Detail

1986 Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.3 (Model 201)Clear title. Never been in an accident.Interior is in fantastic shape (please see pics)Door panels cleanSeats clean; no tearsOriginal owner sold it to a family member then who transferred it to another family member (3 total owners)Note that the vehicle's motor turns over but is currently in a "no start" conditionFuel pump has been replaced but did not fix the problemVehicle's battery is currently drained and has been removed. As a car guy, this is an IDEAL project car as there is very little body work that needs to be done and the interior (seats, door panels, headliner, etc.) are in superb condition. The motor issue is, most likely, a fuel delivery issue. My schedule just doesn't allow further troubleshooting at this point in time.Would also be a great "fix and flip" for profit.A majority of this car's life was in our extended family and all maintenance was done, on time, per manufacturer's specs.Take a look at my feedback as a seller. Last year, I sold a Chevrolet HHR to a very happy buyer. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.----------------------------------------------------------- Reply message to eBay member on 8/8/15:Dear dmwtrader,Hello sir,Are the motor, paint, dash instruments, and wheels all original? There is a replacement bumper included with the car? Is the hood straight? Please send additional pictures.Ty,Andrew ------ Dear aca_and, Andrew,The motor, paint, dash instruments, and wheels are factory original. Concerning the front bumper, yes, there is a replacement bumper that will be included with the car. Hood: Yes, it's straight. You can revisit the picture of the hood and notice the seams are in good order.I will send the additional pictures but I will not be able to include them all with this message. Expect two other messages after this one with the additional pics.Regards,- dmwtrader ----------------------------------------------------------- Reply message to eBay member on 8/6/15:Dear dmwtrader,Dear Sir,Do you have more pictures of the interior, exterior, engine, trunk and undercarriage please?can you give me more information about the engine condition? how long has it been since the last time it was driven... any rust in the panels, trunk or undercarriage? condition about the brakes and suspension?Thank you for your attention.RegardsEnrique- egasca ------ Enrique, 1) Engine condition: In good condition considering the vehicle is nearly 30 years old with an average of 5,000 miles per year. Some things needing repair within the engine compartment are new battery, new hood shock (that holds up hood), and troubleshoot the no-start condition.2) The vehicle was driven 18 months ago then had the no-start problem. Prior to this, compression tests were good so we replaced the fuel pump without luck.3) Only rust I could find is some on the exhaust manifold (normal), pipe, and muffler. Otherwise swings in suspension and floorboard look good.4) Suspension: Bounce test shows that rear shocks and stabilizers are very tight. Front is not as tight BUT does not bounce twice. Brakes: Last time driven no problem whatsoever. If it helps, I've rebuilt a '95 BMW, '70's Chevy Super Sport, '72 Stepside Truck, '92 Mazda B2200, and a '70's VW Bug within my lifetime. If I had the time, I'd keep this Mercedes, drop in a battery, fix the no-start, change all the fluids, pull the left rear dent, replace the tires, and keep it. Unfortunately, I just don't have the time with my schedule at this point in my life.I can tell you one thing - it's a perfect project car because the body is straight and the fenders/hoods/doors don't have any major problems. There is the left rear quarter with the dent BUT it can be pulled out as there are no creases. Hope that helps, - dmwtrader ----------------------------------------------------------- Potential bidders:If you'd like to see additional pictures of the engine, undercarriage, and rear seat just message me. I cannot add any more pics to the current listing. Thank you. ----------------------------------------------------------- 2.3L Engine (Quite Impressive -- Please Read) The Cosworth engine was based on the M102 four cylinder 2.3-litre 8-valve 136 hp (101 kW) unit already fitted to the 190- and E-Class series. Cosworth developed the cylinder head, "applying knowledge we've learnt from the DFV and BDA."[9] It was made from light alloy using Coscast's unique casting process and brought with it dual overhead camshafts and four valves per cylinder, meaning 16 valves total which were developed to be the "largest that could practically be fitted into the combustion chamber".[9] In road going trim, the 2.3 L 16-valve engine made "185 hp (138 kW) at 6,200 rpm and 174 lb·ft (236 N·m) at 4,500 rpm. The oversquare 95.50 x 80.25 mm bore and stroke dimensions ensuring that it revs easily up to the 7000 rpm redline".[10] Acceleration from 0–100 km/h (62 mph) was less than eight seconds, and the top speed was 230 km/h (143 mph). US-Specification cars had a slightly reduced compression ratio (9.7:1 instead of 10.5:1), and were rated at 167 hp (125 kW) @ 5800 rpm and 162 lb·ft (220 N·m) @ 4750.
