Vehicle Detail

I am selling my 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air 2-door hardtop (no post). The car spent the early part of its life in the dry Nevada climate before being purchased by a gentleman in the Minneapolis / St. Paul, Minnesota area in the late 70's or early 80's. He stored it in his warehouse and drove it very little until I purchased it with the intention of restoring it sometime down the road. The car has a small bock Chevy engine in it now but I am unsure whether it is a 283, 327, or 350. The block has the bosses cast into the sides that allow side motor mounts so I know it is not an early 265 or 283. The car still is using the front motor mounts and no modifications have been done to the frame to accommodate using side motor mounts for the engine. I searched long and hard to find a period correct 283 engine for the car and finally found one. I had the engine block professionally cleaned and machined in anticipation for a fresh rebuild along with having the Power Pack four barrel heads rebuilt, crankshaft polished, new Eagle rods, new Wiseco pistons, and a Comp Cams hydraulic roller camshaft I have over $3,000 worth of parts and labor in the engine and I was planning on assembling and installing it in the 1957 Chevy but have decided to leave it disassembled so the buyer can see exactly what he/she is getting. The car has the cast iron 2-speed PowerGlide transmission. I have extra parts that go with the car, including another cast iron 2-speed PowerGlide transmission, generator, carburetor, four 1957 Bel Air hubcaps, and misc. other items. Overall the car is straight rust-free and will require very little body work to prep it for paint. There is a dent in the roof toward the back drivers side area which should pull out fairly easily. The under body shows that the car spent time in the dry climate of Nevada. The car is an original Matador Red with Ivory top car, which is a desirable color combination. The car will start but the engine and transmission is weak so it will require being trailered to its new home. The odometer is showing 10,739 but undoubtably it has turned over. The interior appears to be original with no rips or tears in the seats or headliner. The dome light even works. The rear drivers side window has a crack in it but I do have another window that goes with the car. All the chrome and stainless pieces are there. The car is very complete. This 1957 Bel Air would make a great candidate for a frame on or off restoration or drop in a newer LS engine or crate stroker engine and have a cool street machine. I have set a reasonable reserve price that is far below what I have in the car. I hate to sell it but priorities have changed. The car can be seen prior to the end of the auction. The car is located in Des Moines, Iowa. I have clear title to the vehicle in my name. The car will only be released when the funds have cleared my bank. Please ask if you have any questions concerning the car and I will get back to you as soon as I can. Thank you for looking.
