Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on a 1978 Lincoln Mark V Sport Coupe (LSC). I can remember when these cars were the King of the Road. For many years they were the most expensive American made car, featured in many movies and TV shows - if you were any kind of cool, this is what you drove or dreamed of driving. This car was originally owned by a well to do Chicago lady who rarely drove it. It sat in her garage until she needed to drive to church or to the supermarket or some such errand. She almost never drove in the winter and as her life progressed, she quite driving altogether. This car, however, stayed in her garage all that time. A year or so ago, this lady passed away and the car was left to her grandaughter, who drove it from Chicago to Miami Beach where she lived. Quite frankly she had no idea of what to do with the car so eventually she sold it to me and even drove it to Atlanta from Miami Beach. My intention was to restore it and go cruising but I was kidding myself. I had no place, no time, and no wherewithall to do such a thing so I'm selling this to someone who can get the job done. This would be a minor project, more of a tinkerer's dream. No heavy lifting to be done here, just some of this-n-that. This car is complete and all there, it's never been monkeyed with so there is little parts chasing needed. The body is straight and flawless, no dents or scratches and remarkably there is no rust in this body. The paint is faded to a light gray. Buffing may bring it back but I don't know. It's straight as an arrow, bumpers are straight and all trim is present. It has a power sunroof that works just fine. The plastic trim that goes around the sunrook is cracked but it's a quick fix. The interior is awesome. You'd expect some problems for it's age but it is gorgeous. Dash pad is not cracked, seats are clean and just beautiful.Everything works, even the clock and radio. It has an 8 track player. Tires and brakes are good glass is not broken or chipped and it's amazing what good condition it's in. However there are a few warts: The vent windows have fallen into the doors - a common problem on these lincolns - and the windows won't go up or down. They are up right now. That's maybe a good weekender project right there. Then there is the headlights. The "doors" are stuck open and there is a loud vacumm leak at the light switch. I assume the light switch will need to be replaced and maybe the vacumn hose. The lights do come on but the floor mounted hi-beam switch will not click so you must hold it down to keep the hi beams on. I'd say a whole Saturday on this. One of the front parking light lenses is gone. Minor fix. The tailpipe or muffler is leaking a small bit and will need attention soon. And that is it! Of course it all needs a good cleaning and maybe a tune up. It has the 460 ci engine and the 3 speed auto trans. It starts every time with ease and drives good. I have the owners manual and a clear title. Transport is up to you, the car needs to be paid fully before it leaves. I can store it for a short time. This is a no-reserve auction so when you bid you'll own it if you a high bidder. The car is located near Atlanta Ga. If you are nearby come look at it!
