1969 Cadillac Eldorado – 472 CI V-8 Front Wheel Drive. Exclusivity and supremacy once ruled our luxury cars…they were the American lifestyle. Cadillac was always the luxury-leader….Cadillac offered more features and accessories both standard and optional than any other luxury make. For 1969, Cadillac introduced its all-time masterpiece…beautifully new and distinctively Cadillac. …it had to be seen to be believed, driven to be fully appreciated, and owned for total satisfaction…it took the automotive world by storm. The 1969 Eldorado was the only car in the world to combine the precision of front wheel drive, variable-ratio power steering, and Automatic Level Control. The confidence of power front disc brakes and the performance of a 472 cubic inch V-8 engine make it truly exceptional. The 1969 Eldorado’s front wheel drive provided a flat floor attributing to its spaciousness. Newly designed high-back lounge seats came standard with folding center armrest and head restraints. Also standard were power windows, power 2-way seat, Power steering, power brakes with front discs, courtesy lighting, remote control driver’s outside rear view mirror, and seat belts. These were just a few of the many features and accessories standard on the 1969 Eldorado. The Eldorado was powered by Cadillac’s 472 CID 16-valve OHV V8 engine. It was constructed with a cast iron block and heads, five main bearings, and hydraulic valve lifters. It was equipped with a Rochester 4-bbl downdraft Quadrajet carburetor with equalized manifold, mechanical fuel pump, dry-type air filter, improved automatic choke, and AIR (Air-Injection Reactor) system to reduce hydrocarbons in exhaust. The Cadillac 472 CID V8 produced 375 hp @ 4,400 rpm with 712 Nm of peak torque @ 3,000 rpm. Performance was rated as 0-60 mph in 8 seconds, 0-100 mph in 21.8 seconds, and had a top speed of 126 mph. It did the ¼ mile @ 88 mph in 15.8 seconds. The engine was mated to GM’s Turbo Hydra-Matic THM-425 3-speed automatic front wheel drive transmission. The 1969 Cadillac being offered for sale is a beautiful Eldorado. No accidents. It just needs a bit or restoration to make it as beautiful as ever. The engine turns over and starts up, and if you change the gas, and clean the carburetor, it would probably continue to run, but we recommend rebuilding the engine if you plan to use this as a daily driver. – see link to short video on YouTube below – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_X3XXOjWNdc&feature=player_detailpage The transmission works, and the brakes stop the car, but we wouldn’t recommend trying to drive it home until it has been fully checked out. It has been stored in California for many years and has minimal rust. Please see pictures for more details. As shown in the pictures the car is currently painted a beautiful Wisteria Metallic. However, as the body tag shows, the Original Color was “26” Athenian Blue Metallic and it came with a Dark Blue vinyl top “L”. The original combination was very “Presidential” in appearance.
