This is a SHOW WINNING example of a virtually showroom-complete bus that has been garage kept its entire life. The exterior paint has been recently refreshed in its original colour in PPG Performance two part while the interior maintains its original paint and fixtures! (including factory radio, see photos) I have owned the bus for three years and driven it a total of 2,000 miles. It has been used almost exclusively for car shows, weddings, and as a staging piece for movies. A baby is on the way and my toy has to go! I purchased it from a retired Millwright from Germany that worked as a factory machinist for Porsche. He maintained this bus meticulously (see engine photos and list of included accessories) and sold it because he was taking on other VW projects. Oil and filters have been done on it every 600 miles. (excessive, yes) She is powered by a 2000cc (2.0L) rebuilt engine from a 1976 that easily breathes through two sets of wide-barrel 44mm Kadron carburetors. The carbs and engine have 13,000 mi on them and they were tuned and synched in the spring. The six month old oversized battery kicks the engine into a smooth idle. The freshly broken-in engine pushes the bus easily up hills and on the highway. She does not leak or burn oil. The "002" four-speed manual transmission shifts thoughtlessly through all gears. The brake master cylinder, slave cylinders, pads, and drums have all been replaced within the last 2,000 mi. The interior reflects a bus that has been kept in a warm and dry environment its entire life. The seats have been covered in original beige seat covers from front to back and the Z-bed is extremely comfortable to sleep on. Accessories that you will rarely find: - Factory original curtains with fasteners - Factory blank-out heavy canvas curtain for all-around privacy - Factory "Child's Cot" assembly to sit over driver and passenger seats - Factory Volkswagen radio (modern radio with AUX installed, easily swapped with a single connector) - Factory seat belts (recoil belts are currently installed up front for safe driving, but original "hanger-style" belts with mounting hardware are included) - Factory camper top made of heavy VW canvas. It matches the interior perfectly and is not a cheap replacement (some marks but very good shape for its age) The window seals are another highlight. See photos for details, but all are in excellent condition, a rare find and a large expense if they are not in good order. The tires have just over 3,000 miles on them and look new. Occasionally, it will pop out of fourth gear when going up steep hills if the gas is floored abruptly. However, this affects all VWs of that era. The under body was coated when new and has protected the undercarriage extremely well. (see photo for details of wheel well) The bottom of the sliding door has a three tiny imperfections in the paint that are less than 1/8" in diameter and are too small to show up in photos. This exceptional vehicle is ready for a car show or showing off around town. She has won "Best Bay Window" three years running at the local Aircooled VW show.
