96 Caprice wagon Up for bid is a 1996 Chevy Caprice station wagon with 141k two owner miles. I am the second owner - first owners were part year New York and part year North Carolina residents, so it has a small amount of rust. Was totalled due to a dent in the right front fender and door - I replaced it with a junkyard fender and just drove. Small dent in right front door remains as seen in pics. Ive had the car for a year and put just 400 miles on it. Car is loaded up with power everything and it all works, even the auto-levelling. Exceptionally nice interior. Boasting GMs Corvette inspired multiport injected 5.7L LT1 V8 engine and 4L60E 4 speed automatic transmission, she puts down plenty of power. Base 2.56 open rear end. Relatively rare - Chevy built just 638 Caprice wagons in the 1996 model year. This is one of just 44 in medium garnet red, and one of just 8 garnet red wagons with tan interior (most had dark red interior, and a few had grey interior.) Runs and drives great - drive anywhere. Pleasant after 6:30 pm weekdays or any time weekends by appointment. Condition Report ENGINE: Runs on all eight cylinders without smoking, missing or knocking. Engine runs at proper temperature. Newer battery & good charging system, new radiator. Starts easy and runs strong. TRANSMISSION: Performs beautifully. Engages gears quickly and shifts through all four forward gears and reverse with good downshift and torque converter performance. Clean fluid with no burn odors. EXTERIOR: Body: Body is in very nice shape except the right front door dent. Very straight otherwise. No outer body rust ever; no bondo. Paint: Paint is very nice and shiny and original everywhere except right front fender which has less lustre. Other: Lower Lower beltline trim is mostly nice with some fake chrome peeling in a few spots. All glass is good - no cracks or chips. Undercarriage is very nice with only minor surface rust - see the pics. Underhood sheet metal, tailgate sill and door jambs have minor rust as seen in pics. Hubcaps are in excellent shape. INTERIOR: Interior of the car is INCREDIBLY nice. The only complaint is some very minor carpet soil. Dash has no cracks, carpets have no wear, cloth seating areas are in great shape, cargo deck carpet in great shape (protected all its life), third seat like new, headliner is nice with no sagging or fading, steering wheel is in nice shape with NO dye wear, door panels are nice with no cracks or fading. No smoke or pet odors. Exceptionally nice interior overall. Comes with custom fitted dash pad. Carpet was protected by black mats as seen. ELECTRICAL STUFF: All inspection items work (lights, horn, wipers, etc.) ALL power options work reliably, including power windows, power locks, power seats, hot heat and cold A/C, tilt, cruise, am/fm stereo cassette, rear window release, rear wiper, power antenna, auto-dim rearview mirrors, intermittent wipers, and rear defroster. The auto-levelling compressor and rear shocks also work!! DRIVEABILITY: Drives out nicely. Steering is tight, alignment is good, suspension is tight with new front shocks. Brakes work well with good linings. Tires have about 50% tread remaining on a matched set of whitewall radials (whitewalls are turned in). Solid, quiet exhaust with no leaks. Check engine light is not lit (except at start up as it should.) No complaints - drive anywhere. Short version terms: Small non-refundable deposit as listed (but fast) by Paypal within 24 hours.
