Vehicle Detail
I picked up this '96 Miata a few years ago, when I was a single parent with one son. We had a blast. Now I'm remarried with a second son just born, and if I have a toy car on the side again, it's gotta have 4 seats! About the car: It's not pretty--just fun. Always starts (especially with the new battery I just put in) and stays cool (not because of the A/C, which doesn't work, but because of the new radiator I put in a couple of years ago). Just passed PA inspection this month. It's been very reliable, including last spring when I used it as a daily driver on my 40-mile commute from Easton to Allentown and back. Other disclosures: --windows both roll, but they're stiff --cassette doesn't work (radio does) --speedo needle shakes a little --trunk doesn't stay open (I messed up the spring somehow and haven't looked into it) --plastic rear window has a crack that's taped over. I normally just leave the top down anyway, but it's functional in unexpected rain. --one of the front fenders was replaced, and the paint doesn't quite match --paint is pretty sketchy all around--not pretty (but no rust that I've noticed) For me the one aggravating thing about it is that it drips oil. Garage told me to put some newspaper on the floor and ignore it. I haven't driven more than 1,000 in a summer, so oil level has never been an issue--but it does drip! I haven't tried any oil additives or looked further into what gasket might be leaking. Doesn't smoke or anything. This car tracks straight and drives steady at highway speed. If you're interested in an affordable, reliable 2-seat toy, this is it. If you can't feel good about a car unless it looks perfect, look elsewhere or plan on a paint job! PLEASE: Don't click "buy it now" unless you're committed--and honest. I sold a car on EBay years ago and had to eliminate that option because of scammers who wanted to overpay me and receive a refund (money laundering?). If you have zero feedback, email before bidding, or I'll cancel your bid. $500 due through Paypal within 24 hours of auction close. Balance within one week, cash or cashier's check. Title in hand. For in-state buyers, we should go to a notary together. For out-of-state shipment, you make arrangements and I will cooperate! Vehicle is for sale locally, and I reserve the right to end the auction at any time! On Jun-14-15 at 13:28:55 PDT, seller added the following information: Note added 6/14: The original "buy it now" price was $3,100. Apparently, once the reserve has been met that option disappears. Please don't bid higher! Mechanically sound, this car is rough enough cosmetically that I think a higher bidder could reasonably be disappointed. (Clearly, I am not a salesman.)
