Vehicle Detail

The time has come to sell my beloved Jeep Cherokee. This is a three owner vehicle. The first owner loved it, but had to change to a minivan upon the arrival of a child. My dad owned this Jeep from 2002-2008, and had it maintained by a local dealership. He used it as his "golf vehicle" and mainly drove it around town. When gas prices jumped in 2008, he decided to switch to a more economical vehicle and gave family members "first dibs" on the Jeep. I was living on a boat at the time and didn't need a vehicle, but decided to give the Jeep a new home. I have been the owner from 2008 until present. Since this vehicle has only been sold by a dealer once, I have all the service records and receipts. After bringing the Jeep to Florida, so she could retire in style, I decided to keep her as stock as possible, while adding or upgrading a few items to make her a bit more comfortable. Items that have been added or repaired while in my care: Windows tinted - A necessity in Florida. This was not an el-cheapo backyard tint shop. This tint was professionally applied in 2009 and shows no wear or bubbles. You get what you pay for. Dark tint in the cargo and rear areas for security, lighter gray in the front for legality. I've never been ticketed for tint. If you do get pulled, roll your windows down, it becomes a non-issue.OEM Jeep alloy wheels - These wheels were not available when the Jeep was new, but they look amazing and maintain the stock appearance. These rims show zero damage.Tires - Replaced with BF Goodrich Long Trail T/A. Accel super-stock distributor cap, rotor, and wires - This was not intended as a performance upgrade. The old wires were beginning to dry rot and needed to be replaced. The bonus is quicker starting and it goes like a stabbed rat. Restore Engine Restorer and Lubricant - The Jeep had over 100,000 miles when I got it. I decided to use this product religiously. It has been added after every oil change.Sylvania SilverStar performance headlamps - Want people to flash their lights at you every 5 minutes because they think your high beams are on? These are great for that.Front parking and side marker light fixtures - Replaced these with the OEM european marker lights. This was a safety issue. Other vehicles could not see the front turn signals. Amber lenses with clear bulbs throw more light. Chrysler fixed this problem with the 1997 Cherokee by installing amber lenses with dual bulbs.Tailgate gas lifts- Replaced. Push the button and it opens. Headliner - I have not seen a Cherokee from this period without a sagging headliner. The professionally installed replacement is 4 times thicker than OEM. It quieted the interior to near Lexus levels. Sony Xplod speakers - I left the factory AM/FM cassette player intact to deter thieves. You won't win any bass competitions, but the speaker upgrade is nice. Custom (black carpet) floor and cargo mats - These mats were custom made for the vehicle and look great.Engine bay liner - I picked this NOS liner up to replace the original. This keeps water from splashing onto the lower half of the engine. It's nice to be able to drive through puddles and not hear squealing from the serpentine belt. Brake rotors, discs, and calipers - ReplacedShock absorbers - ReplacedStarter - Replaced Crank position sensor - ReplacedFuel filter - Replaced Water pump - Replaced twice due to inept dealer installation.Serpentine belt - See water pump.Head gasket - Replaced and later adjusted. No leaks.Oil filter housing - New kit installed. No leaks. Power steering pump reservoir - ReplacedRear differential seal - Replaced by dealer. No leaksTransmission - Flushed and refilled by dealer. Shifts solid. Steering stabilizer - ReplacedRadiator - ReplacedBattery - ReplacedHeater core valve - ReplacedAir conditioning high and low pressure lines - ReplacedWasher pumps - Both replaced. Front one was dying and decided to have both replaced as they are a bitch to get to.Upper and lower radiator hoses - ReplacedThose problematic relays that control the fuel pump, electric fan, and a/c clutch - All replacedInterior, license plate, and reverse light bulbs - Replaced with a quality LED equivalent when they burned out. All other exterior bulbs have been replaced. I approach car maintenance with a very simple principle: If something breaks, fix it. This is why everything works on this Cherokee. The Highs: Power - This is the quickest Cherokee I have ever driven. It pulls away from stoplights with severe aggression. It crawls up hills without touching the gas pedal. It does the old fashioned "torque waddle" when you put it in gear. I've never pushed the gas pedal all the way to the floor, because (quite frankly) I never needed to.Since I have taken care of nearly all the items that could break on this Jeep, just change the oil periodically and it will be good for many miles to come. The most reliable vehicle I have ever owned. It has never stranded me.4x4 System - Never abused, tested monthly, works flawlessly. Air conditioning - Blows ice cold, professionally maintained.Clean interior The Lows: Two dime sized rust spots on the roof - These will need to be addressed, but are minor.Paint on the roof and hood is showing the beginning signs of clear coat separation. Standard issue on any XJ.Manual locks and windows. Not a bad thing as most Cherokees have problems with power windows. Fuel economy - Quoting Top Gear UK: "Even if you drive like the district nurse in your stocking feet, you'll only get around 20 miles to the gallon". Feel free to watch the video for a full review. youtube.com/watch?v=c_c44ArGoRk The Reason: I swore when I got this Jeep that I was going to drive it until the wheels fell off, then get new wheels and keep going. Why would I ever sell such a great vehicle? A change in work has extended the length of my daily commute. I need a vehicle that will be more economical while stuck in traffic. The Goods: If you meet my reasonable reserve price and win the auction (or buy it now), the Jeep is yours. I'll include the original full size spare (I removed it to save weight and increase cargo capacity) with mounting hardware and original cover. I'll also include an exterior rubber molding trim piece to be installed on the driver's side door. For some reason, the door never had a trim piece and I finally located the matching part last year. A custom cut windshield shade is included to keep the interior looking new. I will also include the original rolling shade for the rear cargo area (not needed with the tint). If requested, I can include a full instrument cluster with tachometer and all gauges. I will include the necessary oil and temp sending units for full functionality. I bought all the components years ago, but didn't make the switch. I also have a faux wood bezel for the dash that I purchased, but never installed, it's yours if you want. The Disclosure:AutoCheck reports 1 accident which was disclosed by the first owner to my dad when he purchased it. While the first owner was visiting family in Maryland, someone tapped the rear fender while stopped at a traffic light. The car that hit the Jeep had some damage, which was reported for insurance purposes. The Jeep's rear steel bumper did it's job well and protected the vehicle from any damage. The Terms: If reserve price is met and you are the winning bidder or a buy it now condition is met, I expect to receive a $300 deposit via PayPal within 48 hours of auction close. Full balance will be due within 7 days of auction close or seller reserves the right to offer the vehicle to another bidder. Seller reserves the right to end auction early in case of local sale. Full balance to be paid by bank transfer or cashier's check. Vehicle is being sold as-is with no warranty implied. Happy bidding! On Jun-06-15 at 15:20:13 PDT, seller added the following information: The Revisions: 06 June 2015 - The number one request I have been getting from potential owners: interior photos. I did have some beauty shots taken of the interior, they were on an SD card that I can't seem to locate. I was in a rush to start the auction, so I began the listing without them. I tried to take some pictures last night, but there wasn't enough light. I promised a bidder that I would get some pictures of the interior after work. This afternoon we are under a severe thunderstorm watch, I still went out between bands of rain and shot some interior pictures. I am not showing the trunk just yet as I have not re-installed the spare tire. I may add a picture of the tire with cover, once it is back in position. The spare really destroys the available cargo space and I have run the Jeep for 5 years without it.
