Vehicle Detail
A RARE opportunity to bid on a 1971 71 CB750 K1, Original as from the factory, un-molested time capsule, orig. paint, original pipes, original tires, original seat, gauges, chrome, etc. , every nut and bolt are the original factory assemblies. This is a VERY unique and very RARE 750 Honda as it is what is known as a "Domestic Model" which means that it was originally built for the Japanese Market, and imported to the US by a private party. There are only a handful of such early 750s that were ever brought to this country. The History on this bike can be traced to when it was new. The Original Owner was a soldier in Japan in 1971, bought the bike and brought it home to California with him in 1971. The bike still has the original 1971 issue blue California plate mounted on it. By the way, He had the MPH Speedo fitted on it in 1971 when he got the bike to the US, which is why it doesn't have the original KPH Speedo. The second owner bought the bike from him in the early 80s and rode it only a couple of thousand miles. As a result, the bike has only 10,840 original miles on it. Extremely rare for these bikes. I bought the bike from the second owner a year ago and not ridden the bike. He stored the bike in 97 and properly drained the fuel and brake fluid, so the gas tank is like new inside with no rust, it is ready for fresh gas. I have not gotten the bike running, but The bike has 150lbs + compression in all four cylinders, and spark to the points, so it will run. Being a Domestic Model, it has a few unique features that the US market bikes don't have, or are different. First off, it was a late 71 bike, so it came from the factory with 341 pipes on it, which apparently was not unusual for the Japanese Market bikes due to noise regs in Japan at that time. And, of course, they do not have the US DOT stamps on them either, so they are pre-1983 pipes. And, most importantly, they are in pristine condition with no rust holes or dents. Other unique items are: A shorter tail light bracket, Orange side marker reflectors in the tail light lens, the red speed warning light between the speedo and tach, (only on the Japanese market bikes), rigid, non collapsible rider foot pegs, and all the warning and info labels on the bike are written in Japanese. Everything on the bike is in great condition with no damage from going down or having been dropped. There is normal patina in the form of minor corrosion on the aluminum, and minor brown spots or pitting on the chrome, but as you can see from the pictures, the bike looks like its only a couple of years old. The spoke nipples even still have the cadmium coloring on them. The original Candy Brown paint on the side covers is like new, with no fading and there are no cracks or broken tabs which is very common on original bodywork. The original paint on the gas tank is faded on the top, and there is some clear coat damage from spilled gas and a few scratches, probably from storage, but it still looks great, and as I said above, it looks like new inside. This bike is a one of a kind in my opinion, and who ever wins the auction, I would hope they feel as I do in that I don't think this bike should ever be restored or have any of it's original parts or pieces replaced. It is only original once as they say, and this is a very rare, in the true sense of the word, ORIGINAL! The reserve on the bike is reasonable, so don't worry about bidding on it, I just want someone who is a serious collector of a very special bike to end up with it. Please call me (Pete) at 415-272-8133 if you have any questions about the bike. I will not entertain any creative financing or trade offers of any kind, no "My money is tied up in some African Government or Bank" scheme. Jeese, when are these morons going to die. On Jun-07-15 at 09:50:34 PDT, seller added the following information: In response to a question that was asked about why I have not gotten the bike running, I will get the bike running if the winner of the auction requests it. The main reason I have not done it before this is because my intention was to display the bike as a time capsule so to speak, and with the new gasoline that is sold in California, it is not good to let it sit for long periods of time do to the fact that the ethanol in it is destructive to seals etc. in the carbs, and will rust the inside of the tank if it sits in there for a long time. So, the fact that this bike has been properly stored, I felt that it was better to leave as is, and continue to keep the engine lubricated. I want the winner to be 100% happy that he is getting a very unique bike that really needs to be kept in its current preserved and original state. On Jun-08-15 at 12:15:46 PDT, seller added the following information: Please take note that I have reduced the reserve price to 5011.00
