Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is a low-mile, rust-free, 1980 Trans Am Y84 Special Edition. I believe it has every possible option based on the PHS invoice. It was purchased last year in an estate sale. I have since driven it 1000 trouble-free miles. Instead of the turbo 301, it has had a professionally installed, 6.6 Litre 403 out of a 1979 T/A. It starts and runs perfectly and will chirp 2nd gear under full throttle. The posi-traction rear gear is 3:08. The TH-350 transmission shifts perfectly. It has headers that don’t leak and all new exhaust from the headers back. The brakes are new as are the shocks and 255-60-15 tires. It has the WS6 handling package with 4-wheel disk brakes. I’ve owned 2nd Gen Trans Ams in the past and this one is very tight. No squeaks or rattles over rough roads and the T-tops don’t leak. Runs super. Great road handling and acceleration. Other than the headers, it’s all stock with original Delco am/fm/cassette, power antenna, velour hobnail deluxe interior, power windows and door locks, air-conditioning (cold and fully charged), delay wipers, tilt wheel, light group, map lights, remote trunk release, rear window defogger and visor mirror. The only thing that doesn’t work as it should is the cruise control (not connected) and the clock (intermittent). The carpet, console, rear package shelf and door panels are new. The headliner is very good. The interior is in great condition for a 35 yr old car but one rear seat top has some repair due to splitting on one side only (see pics) and there is a small crack in the dash that has been filled. It is an S/E but the gold engine-turned dash has faded as you can see. It should be the same tint as the shifter plate. As for the exterior, I believe the paint is 70% original where the S/E decals have faded (see pics). The front and rear bumpers and spoilers have recently been repainted and the gold pinstriping is recent. There are some small dents, scratches and battle scars but NO RUST. I have tried to show any and all imperfections in the photos. It’s not perfect but it’s very, very good. It’s a great driver and looks super from a few feet away. If you want a show car you’ll have to address a few minor things and have it repainted with a new decal kit. I have a clear MA title in my name and the car is registered and inspected and driven almost daily. I would not hesitate to drive this car on a cross country adventure. I currently have classic car insurance with an agreed value of $15,000. To be sold at no reserve. Many more pics at: http://transam.lyons.net I will include the 403 shaker scoop in case you may want to get another hood. I know the turbo hood is not everyone's cup of tea.
