So, I've decided to clear some room in my driveway, and the Beetle is (sadly) the one to go. I bought this Beetle off of Ebay in 2007 from a farmer in Illinois. It had 139,000 on it, and needed some work. So, I replaced the windshield, cleaned the turbo, and brought it back to life. I believe I am the 3rd owner. This car has been my main commuter vehicle as I drive about 400 miles per week. Two years ago, I bought the eventual replacement vehicle, but couldn't give up the Beetle because it was too much fun to drive. Unfortunately, my driveway looks like a car lot, so it's time. Couple of facts about this little bug - I drove it so much because of the TDI - diesel engine. It has the famous Mark IV engines, which are known for their longevity. My guess is that you'll get at least another 100,000 miles out of this car, and the body will collapse before the engine will give out. It gets 43-47 miles per gallon consistently. The VW TDI-manual transmission combinations have been known for going well over 300,000 miles - feel free to Google it. A few modifications: New WheelsRocketchip Performance EnhancementAluminum Skid plateTinted WindowsNew CD player Between the 5 speed manual transmission, the Rocketchip, and the extra torque from the TDI, this car flies up hills when others struggle to maintain speed. Although the Beetle has an odd body, I love the crisp, responsive handling. Everything has been kept up to date. I use synthetic oil, and have taken the car to one of the best TDI mechanics and member of the TDI club for any engine work. Fuel filter is due in 15,000 miles, and oil needs changed in another 5,000. Tires have good tread left on them (see pictures). Just replaced the A/C condenser, so the A/C blows cold.
