Vehicle Detail

I have always wanted a Fox Mustang notchback and I have always wanted to run a 10 second quarter mile. This car let me do both. This is a beautiful street / strip car that needs a new home. Completely redone in 2011 / 2014. Car has all functioning lights, turn signal, horn, etc. Runs on 91 octane pump gas. Clean Title. Clean Car Fax. Turn key and go. Background - I purchased this car from a gentlemen in Texas in February 2014. He was more of a street / show car builder. This car started life as a 4 cylinder car. He completely went through it starting in 2011. New paint, New 600 + HP 408W engine, 2 speed Powerglide transmission, new drag racing suspension, new paint, new interior, etc. See below for complete build sheet. He put about a 1,000 miles on it then went on to other things. I think it scared him a bit. He did a decent job on this one but some things needed a little attention before taking it to the track. I have built several road race cars but this was my first drag project. I spent about six months going through it. It needed a good nut and bolt job. I ran the valves, replaced the rockers and installed a stud girdle. I replaced the fuel pressure regulator and installed new fuel lines. I completely rebuilt all the brakes replacing all consumable items with upgraded parts where applicable. I replaced the driver’s side 5 point harness and installed C clip eliminators for safety purposes. I installed new high flow but quiet (er) mufflers and welded in oxygen sensor bungs for an air fuel monitor gauge. A new alternator was installed and new wiring (NHRA approved) for the rear mounted trunk battery was done. All new fluids, a new custom Pro Systems 950 HP carburetor and new, 15 inch Weld drag wheels and tires completed the refurbishment. On its maiden run on 8/29/14 (100 + degrees) in Las Vegas, NV with no tuning of any sort the car ran an all motor 10.95 at 125 MPH at the LVMS. That is leaving off idle, not using the transbrake and on 26 inch drag radials. See time slip in pictures link and Youtube video. The Youtube video is of a run later that day at 11.1. The air density in Las Vegas is terrible. If you put that information into a DA calculator the adjusted time is 10.5 seconds. This car has a whole lot more in it with some tuning. At that point I noticed it had an RPM dependent vibration which I traced to the converter / Powerglide transmission. I pulled the units and shipped them off to Hughes Performance for a full rebuild. Pete at Hughes confirmed the converter had a little run out and that the input shaft needed replacing. Its perfect now. It runs straight and true with zero drama. Suffice it to say, this vehicle has pretty much been gone through top to bottom. The paint was redone in 2011 and looks fantastic. The fiberglass hood has a couple of small spider cracks and the rear bumper has a small paint crack needing attention. I give it an 8.0 out of 10. With a full interior and 6pt cage the car weighs 2,860 and it simply runs like a scalded dog. Braking is strong for a drag setup. It stays cool even in Las Vegas and the converter with a 4,000 stall is not too radical for the street. Keep it as a street strip car or take some more weight out of it, work on the tune and it should be able to run 9’s. Switching to a 3.90 rear gear along with a 28 inch tire would really wake this thing up. For me its more about the build. It’s time for this one to go and make room for the next. The Carfax is clean and so is the title. See below for complete build sheet, pictures (Photobucket) link and You Tube videos. Also, I am happy to supply a reference of the last Ebay buyer of a car I built and sold – Austin Healey replica (similar to Shelby Cobra replica). Just ask and I will forward his contact information. There is well over $45K parts costs in this car. I asking $16,000. http://s1276.photobucket.com/user/1curtc/slideshow/1993%20LX%20Coupe http://youtu.be/Kv4Gxyw_rs0 http://youtu.be/QQWw0HK2Yd4 Engine Ford 351W Stroker 408W, 11.2:1 compression, zero balance, built in 2011 by Jeff LaMotte in TX.4340 Crank, Scat H Beams, Probe Dish Pistons.
