Jaguar XJR! Supercharged 322 horsepower, 4L80E transmission, 3.58 Limited Slip Differential. Here’s a nice older 6-cylinder XJR. I’ve owned for 9 years and put 138,000 miles on this Jag and it has always been reliable and never been on the back of a tow truck. It has always had proper routine servicing. Engine oil and filter always changed a 5k intervals. Transmission fluid at 15k intervals. Differential oil, bearing repack, fuel filter, brake fluid, supercharger oil at 30k intervals. Brakes are just a few months old (hoses, Akebono pads, rotors, front calipers) and 5 new tires were installed a couple months ago. Over the years I’ve replaced the starter, alternator, water pump, differential, idler pulleys, transmission mounts, exhaust manifolds, and had the balancer rebuilt….that much less for the new owner to be concerned with. The AC is cold and climate control works fine. Power seats, power locks, power windows, power column adjustment, cruise control, clock, seat heaters, lights, wiper/washers…all working fine. Always starts easily. Drives straight and true, engine strong, transmission shifts well. No engine smoke and oil consumption is 1 quart every 4000 miles…virtually insignificant. Exhaust system in good shape---no leaks or rusted out mufflers. A few problems: CD player does not work (but the rest of the Premium Sound system works fine). The memory system for the seats is erratic. The power antenna does not always retract all the way. The left-right selector button for the power mirrors does not hold in position although the power mirrors themselves work fine. The car still looks great but the paint is showing some age. Some hazing is developing on the clear coat and has rock chips and wear in the expected places. No rust. No accidents. The interior looks great and the headliner has already been replaced. There is the usual wear on the driver’s seat bolster. The plastic undertray/weathershield under the front bumper is there but has gotten a little banged up over the ears. There are no oil leaks to speak of. There are a couple of small drips on the right side of the engine but they aren’t even enough to hit the ground. In my county we do not have emission checks so I have no idea if the car will pass whatever tests apply in your area. I have no reason to think it wouldn’t, however. In the past I’ve had codes ‘P0420’ or ‘P0430’ pop up which suggest a potential catalytic converter problem but an exhaust analysis indicated no actual problem. I installed upgraded anti-roll bar links in the front. The 3.58 differential is an upgrade over the standard 3.27 ratio. I added a separate electric fan for the intercooler radiator. I also installed a timing advance bracket for improved performance and fuel economy. This Jag is showing some age but it still runs and looks great, has been well cared for, and is a lot of car for the money. I welcome professional inspection.
