I PICKED UP THIS Z3 BACK IN JUNE AS A TOTAL LOSS FROM PROGRESSIVE INSURANCE COMPANY AFTER THE INSURED DROVE THROUGH A WATER COVER ROAD. THE CAR 100% RAN & DROVE WHEN I PURCHASED IT, JUST HAD DAMP CARPETS. THE INSURANCE COMPANY DIDNT WANT THE LIABILITY OF THE REPAIR, SO THEY DECLARED IT A TOTAL LOSS AND SENT IT TO THE AUCTION. I WAS GOING TO KEEP IT AS A LITTLE TOY, BUT AS OTHER PROJECTS HAVE TAKEN PRIORITY, TIME FOR THIS Z3 TO GO. I HAVE DRIVEN THIS LITTLE ROCKET AROUND ABOUT 100 MILES SINCE PURCHASED- IT RUNS & DRIVES OUT QUITE NICELY, JUST NEEDS A LITTLE FINISHING TOUCHES. HERE IS WHAT I KNOW BAD ABOUT THE CAR, I JUST DONT HAVE TIME TO FIX IT: AS MENTIONED IN PREVIOUS PARAGRAPH- THE CAR HAD DAMP CARPETS WHEN I GOT IT. I WAS ABLE TO TELL WATER AT SOME POINT WHETHER DRIVING OR STANDING WATER GOT TO THE BOTTOM OF THE SEATS. GERMAN ENGINEERING DOESNT WATER-TIGHT STUFF LIKE OTHER MAKES, SO THE SEAT MOTORS DONT WORK, HOWEVER ARE EASILY AVAILABLE THROUGH EBAY. THE TOP DOESNT SEEM TO WORK BY SWITCH, ALTHOUGH IM NOT 100% SURE THERE ISNT SOMETHING ELSE THAT HAS TO BE PRESSED AS A SAFETY FEATURE BEFORE TOP WILL MOVE. THE DETAIL SHOP WAS ABLE TO MOVE TOP MANUALLY THOUGH. THE HEATED SEATS- SEATS ARE NOT CURRENTLY PLUGGED IN- SO I WAS UNABLE TO TEST THIS. POWER WINDOWS WORK, BUT ARE A LITTLE SLOW. RADIO - IS DEFAULTED FOR ANTI THEFT AND AWAITING CODE. AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON (MOST LIKELY BECAUSE SEAT ISNT PLUGGED IN) AND PARKING BRAKE LIGHT IS ON (WASNT ON BEFORE IT WENT TO DETAIL SO ITS LIKELY SOMETHING DIDNT GET PLUGGED BACK IN) THE EXTERIOR OF THIS ROADSTER IS IN GREAT CONDITION! ALL THE BODY LINES MATCH UP PERFECTLY. THE BODY IS FREE FROM ANY COLLISION OR COSMETIC DAMAGE AND DOOR DINGS... NOT A SINGLE ONE! THE PAINT HAS BEEN VERIFIED WITH A DIGITAL THICKNESS METER TO BE 100% ORIGINAL WITH EXCEPTION OF THE HOOD WHICH HAS BEEN REPAINTED AT SOME POINT. IT HAS A VERY DEEP LUSTER AND NOTHING SHORT OF GREAT WITH NEXT TO NO FLAWS. THE BODY AS WELL AS THE PAINT IS FREE FROM MAJOR SCRATCHES AND THE ONE OR TWO ROCK CHIPS THAT ARE PRESENT (SEE PICS) HAVE BEEN PROFESSIONALLY TOUCHED UP AND BUFFED DOWN. THE MICHELIN TIRES ALL THE WAY AROUND ARE IN GOOD CONDITION. THEY ARE WEARING EVENLY AND SMOOTHLY AND HAVE NO UNUSUAL ROAD NOISE. THE ORIGINAL WINDSHIELD IS IN PERFECT CONDITION WITH NO CRACKS OR ROCK CHIPS THAT HAVE BEEN FILLED IN. THE INTERIOR IS JUST AS NICE AS THE EXTERIOR. AS STATED ABOVE, WHEN I BOUGHT IT, THE CARPET WAS THE SLIGHTEST BIT DAMP AFTER THE INSURED DROVE THROUGH A WATER COVERED ROAD. THE ENTIRE INTERIOR WAS REMOVED, HOT WASHED, SHAMPOOED, WATER EXTRACTED AND HEAT DRIED TO ENSURE NO WATER WAS LEFT IN THE CARPET. THIS IS THE ONLY & RIGHT WAY TO FIX A LOW WATER LOSS LIKE THIS. THE ENTIRE METAL FLOOR WAS SCRUBBED CLEAN AS WELL AND WHAT FEW CONNECTIONS COULD HAVE POSSIBLY BEEN AFFECTED WERE TREATED. THIS IS THE ROADSTER PKG THAT BMW OFFERS AND HAS ALL THE BELLS AND WHISTLES YOU WOULD EXPECT. THE LEATHER INTERIOR LOOKS NOTHING SHORT OF GREAT. THERE ARE NO RIPS OR TEARS, NO STAINS IN THE CARPETS, NO FRENCH FRIES UNDER THE SEATS AND NO FUNKY ODORS OF ANY KIND. THE PREVIOUS OWNER WAS A NON-SMOKER AND THERE ARE NO BURNS IN ANYTHING ANYWHERE! THE A/C IS ICE COLD AND THE HEATER IS TOASTY WARM. MECHANICALLY THIS Z3 IS IN GREAT CONDITON AS WELL. AS I MENTIONED ABOVE- I PERSONALLY HAVE BEEN DRIVING THIS CAR SINCE IT CAME OUT OF DETAIL. ALL MECHANICAL ASPECTS HAVE BEEN INSPECTED AND RECEIVED NOTHING SHORT OF OF TWO THUMBS UP, HOWEVER IT WAS NOTED THAT AN IDLER PULLY NEXT TO THE ALTERNATOR WAS SINGING A LITTLE BIT. EASY TO CHANGE, JUST NEVER FOUND TIME YET. ALL FLUIDS HAVE BEEN CHECKED AN TOPPED OFF AS NEEDED. THERE IS NO LEAKS OR DRIPS ANYWHERE AND THE BOTTOMSIDE LOOKS LIKE NEW! THIS Z3 DRIVES JUST LIKE ITS SUPPOSED TO. IT HAS A VERY TIGHT FEEL AND HAS NO WEIRD VIBRATIONS, SHAKES OR RATTLES OF ANY KIND. IT TRACKS DOWN THE ROAD STRAIGHT LIKE IT SHOULD AND IS READY FOR THE DRIVE HOME! THE ENGINE STARTS WITH EASE IN THE MORNINGS AND RUNS PERFECT. THE ENGINE LEAPS AT THROTTLE AND THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS JUST LIKE IT SHOULD. THIS CAR IS BEING SOLD WITH A REBUILT SALVAGE TITLE WITH A FLOOD ANNOTATION. IT IS NEGOTIABLE IN ALL 50 STATES EXCEPT FLORIDA, NORTH & SOUTH CAROLINA & LOUISIANA.
