This authentic, numbers matching 1970 Chevelle SS was beautifully restored about two years ago and has only been driven about 1,000 miles since the restoration and only about 2,000 in the last 15 years. The 83,781 miles showing on the odometer are believed to be actual and all mechanical components related to the drivetrain have been rebuilt (engine, transmission and rear.) It is one of the finest Chevelles we have ever offered here at Fleming’s Ultimate Garage, the world’s largest volume classic and specialty car dealership. The newer body bushings are plainly visible upon close inspection of the undercarriage, leading us to believe that this car was treated to a full nut and bolt, frame off restoration. The undercarriage, like the rest of the car, is exceptional. The car runs, looks and drives as you would expect of a Chevelle Super Sport of this caliber. It is truly amazing how nicely this car runs, rides and handles, considering it is 45 years old! The car is as nice as it looks in the pictures. Take a close look at how straight the body panels are and how beautiful the paint is on this car. The appearance and quality of the undercarriage is far more indicative of a car with a much higher price than this one as well.
Tunes are handled by a great sounding Custom Autosounds digital AM/FM Stereo cassette sound system with four speakers, making cruising very enjoyable. Of course, you may opt just to listen to the sweet rumble of the big-block as your row through the gears. That is the sweetest music of all!
As you may know, the only way to determine a 1970 Chevelle’s authenticity with absolute certainty is with accompanying documentation in the form of a build sheet and/or a window sticker. We have on file the original build sheet and a reproduction of the original window sticker that the car wore when it was originally sold through William H. Porter Chevrolet in Newark, Delaware. The car is equipped with ice cold factory A/C, power steering, power disc brakes, C50 rear window defogger, factory gauges including tachometer, F41 suspension, original, rebuilt 12-bolt rear with the G80 Posi-Traction and G94 3.31:1 axle ratio, rebuilt Heavy-Duty 4-speed transmission with Hurst shifter, and the aforementioned #’s matching L34 396 (402 cubic inch) V-8, factory rated at 350 horsepower. This particular L34 396 feels stronger than most I have driven over the years, perhaps due to the Hooker competition headers, Holley Performance Series 4-barrel carburetor, Weiand high rise dual plane aluminum intake manifold and mild performance enhancements it was treated to during the rebuild. This is a great running and great sounding car! Many 454’s don’t run as well as this car does.
The main difference between this Chevelle and any other you can possibly buy from someone else is that ours has been inspected and gone through by our service department and been certified road ready with all safety equipment intact and operational. Everything works, including the A/C, all lights, horn, wipers, etc. All fluids have been changed and the car has been expertly tuned and dialed in. Anything that required attention as a result of our thorough inspection process has already been performed at our expense to ensure delivery of a turn-key car that needs nothing in order for you to drive and enjoy it.
