Vehicle Detail

You are viewing a very clean, 1987 Guards Red Porsche 944. Automatic. This car runs and drives great, with only 93K original miles (yes the odometer works!). It is very good mechanically, and the interior in very good condition as well. The exterior is decent. There is no rust whatsoever, just some typical dings and signs of use. 944s can be found at a variety of prices, often ranging from $1,500 to $15,000. It is important to know what you are getting, and, as always, a little research goes a long way. These cars (as with most Porsches) enjoyed continued improvements throughout their lifespan. The 'cheapest' cars often tend to be the pre 1985.5 cars, which are also the most primitive of the platform. The mid year '85 upgrade was a drastic improvement, and most experts recommend looking for a later car. 1987 was an important year as well, as it was the first year for a spring loaded tensioner for the 944 timing belts. This is a significant improvement, and makes these cars more reliable, and therefore desirable. Excellence Magazine places the current market value of the 1987 944 at $5,000-$7,000, and points out that they expect to see values climb (as all classic Porsches have), as good examples are getting more difficult to find. Get one now, while you still can at a reasonable price! A walk around and test drive of this example, will reveal the following observations:The car fires right up, every time. The A/C blows ice cold, and the heat works great as well. There is a modern stereo professionally installed, featuring an aux/ipod interface. The automatic transmission shifts smooth as silk, and the brakes function just as they should. All four tires are in great shape, as is all the glass, all the way around. The interior is VERY clean, and seats in great shape, with no rips or tears. Sun visors are present, but just need to be re attached. The dash is in great shape, and the typical unsightly dash cracks are essentially nowhere to be found. The hood and hatch (!) struts all function properly as well. The car starts, idles, and accelerates just as it should, and runs very smoothly at speed. There is an HID headlight conversion kit installed, and a full size spare tire with 'cookie cutter' wheel is included as well. Upon close scrutiny, a few areas stand out as eligible for possible repair. They are pictured, and include two small 'reverse' dings on the hood, a series of dings on the top, and one rough/cracked patch on the left rear. A good buffing all around, would probably do wonders to the car. Much of the paint appears original, with a few areas appearing to have been touched up over the years. This car could easily be made great, and most of two 'ding' areas could be repaired with paint-less dent removal, or drive and enjoy as is, without the worry of scratches, etc. that come with use. Overall, this is a nice clean little car, that would make a great beginner or first Porsche. Please don't expect perfection, as I have tried to be as upfront and transparent about the car as possible. I am a multiple Porsche owning enthusiast, and tend to have a very critical eye. This is a NO RESERVE auction, so please bid accordingly, and leaving room in your budget for any repairs you deem worthwhile. Or buy the car and drive it as is. I encourage all potential buyers to come inspect the car in person prior to buying or bidding. Feel free to call me with any questions or for more information. Car condition is subjective. I have owned over 50 Porsches, and am picky about my cars, but potential owners should decide for themselves if this car is for them. Car is sold AS IS, WHERE IS. Very reasonable shipping arrangements can usually be arranged through Uship.com, but transportation is ultimately the responsibility of the buyer. Zero or negative feedback bidders please contact me prior to bidding or your bid may be cancelled. Please only bid or offer if you are serious. Finally, feel free to email or call me at 574-361-5315 with any questions, more details, or if you'd like to make an offer. NO RESERVE AUCTION, PLEASE INSPECT FIRST, THEN BID TO WIN & BID TO OWN. Good luck!
