1990 Volvo 240DL Sedan You are bidding on a really solid 1990 Volvo 240DL that needs a good home! I purchased this DL from an auction for Purple Heart, who helps military men and women who were wounded in combat. This car has great bones and I knew it was something I had to buy. My joy is to find interesting “cult” cars, like this, that deserve a new lease on life and save them. This car fit the requirements so I couldn’t resist. Plus the purchase helped a well deserving cause. When I purchased it, it did not run. I replaced the crank sensor first, as this is a common issue with these 240’s, then I realized the fuel pumps were weak so both the main pump and the in the tank pump were replaced. The sending unit was crusty so while I was at it, that was changed too. A new fuel filter was also installed at the time. After it came to life, I had a friend who was a former Volvo tech help me decarbonize the valves with GM Top Engine Cleaner as well as a throttle body service. The spark plugs were also replaced. From going from a non-running car to a decent driver, I was pleased. What it needs now is a really good run on the highway with some premium fuel, which I filled the tank with already with a bottle of Techron for good measure. I’ve only driven it on back roads and county highways but I have confidence that this will be a good daily driver. The body is in very good condition and straight. There is NO ROT that I have seen. It is super solid and even the underside is clean. The paint clear coat is peeling so eventually you will have to paint it. I did compound some of the exposed paint and it did come up so I’d say just buff it up and use it as is for now. The glass is in good shape. The interior is in really nice condition as you can see. The carpet is a little worn on the driver’s side, as you would expect with the miles, but the seats, door panels and headliner are in decent shape. The original radio is just lying in the hole. I planned on putting an aftermarket unit in there. It does have air conditioning and was previously converted to R134. It doesn’t blow cold so it may need to be recharged. I haven’t gotten to the point of checking this. This car also has a sunroof, heated seats, power windows and central locking. It does have a clean title in my name. I hate to sell this but I have too many vehicles behind my shop and the boss is asking me to free up space for customers cars. It is the perfect car for the enthusiast who doesn’t mind driving it while tinkering. Overall you are getting a very solid Volvo 240 that is ready to be taking to the next step with a new enthusiast to take over where I left off. Disclaimer - Please Read - BID TO OWN!
