Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a running and driving 1951 ford custom. The car is entirely original with the exception of a late 70s repaint done by a prior owner. The car has the 239 Flathead V8 with the 3 speed standard shift transmission. The car starts and runs well and I drive it every few weeks around town to exercise the motor. With that being said the car could benefit from a bit more of a tune up as well as some brake work to make it just right if you were going to try to make this into a daily driver with the existing power train. With all that being said when I take the car out I am able to do 55 mph with no problem. The car has been in my extended family since 1982 and has been garage kept the entire time. The car does have a few dents and dings which I have tried to capture in the pictures. The radio and clock are not working at this time. The body of the car is in very condition and I have not seen any major rust. I have included photos of under the carpet as well as well as the trunk. Please keep in mind the trunk appears to have been coated with the same undercoating material that covers the undercarriage of the car but I have peeled some off to show the condition. There is a dent to the left of the hood and a couple paint scrapes on the passenger side door. Also there is a dent in one of the grille bullets other than that the body is 100% there and in relatively good condition. The engine runs pretty well and I have recently rebuild the carburetor, changed the plugs, wires, cap and points. I have no problem with the engine stalling but I feel the carburetor can use a bit more adjustment to make it just right. The interior is in decent shape with the original seats and what I believe to be an after market carpet that is probably about 30 years old but in good shape. I have attached pictures of the interior. My opinion of the car is that is terrifically solid vehicle for someone looking for a restoration project or something to do a little work to and drive regularly. I hope I did not leave anything that but please know that the car has they typical squeeks, rattles and seeps a car of this age would but is in absolutely terrific condition for its age. I have the title in hand for this car and I have listed it at what I feel is a very low reserve price. Haggerty lists an auction value of approx. $8,500 on this car in its present condition and my reserve is set much lower than that. Please note that the car is being sold as is where is. Feel free to email me with any questions and I will try to respond as quickly as possible. Also, the car is a running, titled and insured vehicle so the miles may increase minimally from what is listed above. The miles are as of 8/22. Thank you for your consideration and I look forward to your bids!
