Fast, refined, great to drive, spacious and beautifully built, it’s easy to see why the 5 Series is so popular. Offering striking design, innovative technology and outstanding efficiency, the fifth generation (2004-2010) of the BMW 5 Series, called the E60 within BMW, consistently continued the victorious history of this model family and was the best-selling car in its segment. Lead by the design team of Chris Bangle and Adrian van Hooydonk, the exterior was all-new; incorporating a sleek, rounded front with swept-back, smooth sheetmetal and a downward-sweeping beltline in back. This last generation 5-Series is also very tech-focused with Active Roll Stabilization, Steering, Headlights and iDrive interface for accessing things like the radio and HVAC controls. Now 10 years old, it’d be a nice surprise to find a super-low mile example of the species that still sparkles and shines like the day it rolled off the showroom floor. The most likely place to unearth such a rare gem would be Southern California, with its mild climate and large number of sports-sedan enthusiasts. Such an amazing find is the miraculously well preserved BMW presented for auction here! This wonderful 525 is as nice as it gets. Still wearing nearly 100% of its factory applied paint, it never suffered from neglect and is as well preserved as one could hope for. I’ve been a car collector for nearly 40 years and if you look at my feedback, you’ll see that I’ve owned a few interesting cars. 5 years ago, I saw this BMW offered for sale by a mature engineer who lived in Palos Verdes. Understanding the added value in an exceptionally clean, low mile example, I happily paid top-dollar and tucked the car in my collection. Driven sparingly and otherwise treated like my one and child, this is (hands down) the best car I’ve ever owned. I will shed a tear when it sells to the highest bidder this Monday morning. Let’s take a closer look now. Exterior: Always garaged and covered, you won’t find many decade-old cars in such outstanding, original condition. The M5 front and rear body kit adds a slightly more aggressive look to this otherwise spectacular, original body. The immaculate body and trim not only speak volumes about the loving care this BMW has always received but underscores its Southern California provenance. With the exception of the front and rear bumper covers, the car is still wearing its factory original paint which has kept its deep luster. Please, keep in mind, it's 10-years-old and there are some small imperfections, namely a few scratches and rock chips in isolated places. Nothing to lose sleep over, though, as the finish displays a look that represents sincere pride of ownership. Most importantly, there is absolutely NO evidence of rust, collision repair or any other mishap that would cause the enthusiast sleepless nights. A straight, body is a hallmark of unmolested originality. Pictures clearly show the clean lines and rust-free panels of this elegant 5-Series. 4 brand new Hankook Ventus V12 Radials mounted to 19” M5 style wheels are not just for looks - but are integral to improved road handling. Not only is performance enhanced but wheel detail is amazing. Speaking of detail, let me stress how straight the body is, how glossy the paint: if you wouldn't know differently, you'd think to be looking at a 1-year old, not a 10 year-old car. This one is that clean! We'll inspect the interior next, shall we? The 525’s interior presents itself 100% original. From the wood dash to the plush carpet and leather bucket seats; everything is in wonderfully preserved state, without any cracks or dryness. Every body type will enjoy extended trips in these the 10-way power seats with height and lumbar adjustment. From the pristine switches and wood accent on the door panels to the power moonroof, everything is superbly preserved. This cabin communicates the intoxicating look and feel of the quintessential sports sedan -- the last really good one, if you ask the experts. The fascinating array of gauges and switches; including dual climate control, tilt and telescoping wheel with hands-free phone and cruise control settings, cruise control, power windows, mirrors, door locks and glass moonroof - all work perfectly. And the 79,000 miles are original! The wood dash is flawless and the 8-speaker audio system with CD guarantees pleasurable audio, even when traveling at speeds well above the double nickel. The intuitive iDrive manages everything from audio and climate settings to communication and tire pressure. And the dual zone Air-Conditioning blows ice cold. Buttons, handles, knobs and switches throughout the entire cabin show little (if any) wear. Both original keys with remotes are included. Everything about this immaculate interior represents a highly pampered, low mile BMW. Alright, let's have a look inside the trunk. Characterized by turbine-smooth power delivery from idle to redline, the 525i experience is singularly exciting. The roomy cabin featuring all the modern amenities such as power assisted steering, power ABS brakes, dual zone A/C and active headlights; contribute significantly to the joy of piloting this E60. 19” wheels with brand new tires make handling in this 525i SUPERB with no rattles, shakes, shimmies or pulls. The newer brakes always stop the car in a straight line without a hint of fading.
