Vehicle Detail
If you are reading this, you probably have some knowledge of the mid 1960s Honda motorcycles - Dream, Super Hawk, and Scrambler. These motorcycles were introduced in 1961/62 and were sold worldwide through the 1967 model year. They started as 250cc versions but in 1965 were upgraded to the 305cc engines. In CL-77 versions the frames were upgraded in 1966 with alloy fork sliders and more powerful 8" drum brakes. If you were a student in the 1960s you probably rode on one of these either as driver or passenger. I suppose millions of them were made but they are a rare sight these days. Many were chopped into trail bikes or TT bikes or just plain wrecked. As far as I know this bike originated in Arkansas and was restored in 2000 by a hobbyist in Alabama. I bought it from him in 2001. At the time it had 9000 miles on it. The first year I rode it on the streets quite often, although never very far. By 2002 I had bought a new Harley and the Honda was then an occasional around the block ride but mostly a bike show competitor. It has won it's share of awards and only on one occasion have I ever seen another at a bike show I attended. It continues to be a display bike but is still started and ridden on a regular basis if only for a few miles at a time. I've recently decided to begin down sizing as old age approaches, so this bike is up for auction. I can't say that this bike is absolutely perfect. I know it has at least 2 small scratches and it does drip a little oil now and then. It's stored inside in a heated and air conditioned garage so it's never been out in the weather (except for the time I got caught in the rain). I always run 110 octane leaded racing gas in it, partly to protect the carbs and fuel lines but also because it runs best on that type of old fashioned fuel. But even at that I always try to drain the carbs and tank over the winter to prevent the fuel from turning into mush. I took it to a bike rally/show 2 weeks ago but the petcock begun to leak so I didn't even enter it. I have ordered a rebuild kit for the petcock and it should be repaired by the time this auction ends. This bike is very correct although probably not exactly perfect in all ways. Nonetheless it's stock appearing, sounding and riding. The only thing I can think of that does not work is the neutral indicator light. Not a big deal and I have never bothered to worry about it. In addition to the bike, you'll also get my collection of literature which includes several repair manuals and parts manuals, all necessary for the proper care and feeding of this antique 47 year old motorcycle. You'll also get a display board 4' x 5' on a stand which showcases laminated original ads of this bike as well as 2 LP vinyl albums by "The Hondells" , one of which pictures the band on a motorcycle exactly like this one. This bike has both the kickstand and the pull back rear wheel stand. I'll also include my 1967 North Carolina motorcycle license plate. You wouldn't have to do a thing to this bike to put it on display except dust it off from time to time. And you can ride it too. This bike is insured and registered in Georgia and has a current Georgia license plate but I do not have a title. Neither Arkansas or Alabama titled motorcycles back in the 60s and I'm not even sure if Georgia did either. At any rate, no title, only a bill of sale.Ebay has forced me to check what type of title I have so I checked "clear" BUT THERE IS NOT A TITLE. As far as transport or pickup I am available to help out with this as much as possible. I know a truck line will provide a crate and bring it to you, the cost depending on where you are located. Otherwise I suppose there are many transporters out there who can haul it or you can pick it up yourself. This is not the first Scrambler I've ever owned but it is probably the last. I'd be pleased to see it go to someone who would enjoy it as much as I have. And for what it's worth, my brother has 2 basket case scramblers he'd probably sell. Contact me with any questions you may have. Thanks for looking.
