Vehicle Detail
Love, It’s what makes a Subaru a Subaru The background on this 1992 Subaru puts meaning into the Subaru advertising slogan. This SVX model has been lovingly maintained by its non-smoking owners since 1996. It is the fully optioned Touring Package car. The car was purchased from a Subaru dealer in Vermont who had been driving the car as his personal transportation. This car has been a part of the family since then and has seen marriage, and career starts for the owners who are now dedicated Subaru fans and own two other Subarus. It was with much hesitation that they decided to donate their beloved first car to the Saratoga Automobile Museum. This car runs extremely well and the age and mileage seem not to be an issue. As mentioned, the car has been very well maintained such that all the accessories work. The electric windows, power seats, cruise control, automatic electric antenna, etc. The air conditioner blows cold air and it is a climate controlled version with thermostat. Mechanically the car runs well. The engine is quiet and smooth. The transmission shifts smoothly when expected. On the road the car tracks well, handles well, and stops in a sure confident manner. It is fitted with a nearly new set of Goodyear Eagle GT high performance all-season tires. The brakes at all four wheels are essentially new, the rear calipers look brand new. The front struts appear to have been recently replaced. The body has the original paint which is still shiny. There are a few spots on the rear spoiler where the paint has peeled off. Some minor rust exists around the wheel wells. The full leather interior is in excellent condition with the only sign of wear at the driver’s seat back on the outboard bolster. The leather finish has been worn off but the leather is not torn. There are no tears in the seats, or at the seams. There are no cracks in the interior plastic trim or on the dash. As noted, everything is there and everything works as it should. The trunk is fully carpeted and is in brand new condition. The compact spare, jack, and wheel wrench have never been used. The SVX was Subaru's attempt to enter the once-popular luxury/performance car category. The prototype was designed by renowned designer Giorgetto Giugiaro of ItalDesign. Subaru produced around 25,000 SVXs from 1992 through 1997 (about 14,000 of these were imported to the United States). The most striking feature of the car is the windows. The window design of the SVX was created with the goal of good aerodynamics, unobstructed visibility, and a distinctive appearance. The car sold for between $28,000 and $35,000. This is a well maintained example of this unique automobile. You can own this excellent example of a unique car by being the high bidder in this auction. The proceeds of the sale will provide funding for the programs of The Saratoga Automobile Museum. The mission of the Saratoga Automobile Museum is to preserve, interpret and exhibit automobiles and automotive artifacts. We celebrate the automobile and educate the general public, students and enthusiasts regarding the role of the automobile in New York State and in the wider world. One of the key fobs still locks and unlocks the doors. We also have the owner's manual in the original vinyl book. The car is being offered for sale locally and the auction may end if a sale is secured.
