Vehicle Detail
This is a fine example of a great classic, Honda Hawk GT. Very clean and unmolested original bike. As you may know these bikes take to modifications real well and most of them have been modded. This one, however, has remained bone stock. All finishes are in great shape, the red paint really stands out on this bike. There is one small pea sized dent on the fuel tank, see picture. The front of the fork legs show a little pitting in the clear coat from bugs or rocks, again see picture. Neither of these imperfections take away from the impact of how great this bike looks, you will not be making excuses when showing this bike off. Did I mention that this bike has a very sexy single sided swing arm? Everything works on this bike, it's easy to start and settles down to a nice idle as soon as it is warmed up. It goes really well and stops when you ask it too. This bike is ready to ride. I got this bike from the original owner and it looks to have been stored inside its whole life. There is no rust or corrosion on this bike and the paint is almost perfect. Back tire and rear cush drive where replace a few years ago but only have a few hundred miles in them. The front tire has a lot of tread left but should be replaced if spirited riding is on your agenda. Below is a copy and paste from Wikipedia... (December 2009) Honda NT650 GT Manufacturer Honda Also called Hawk GT, Bros, RC31 Production 1988–1991 Class naked bike Engine 647cc Four-stroke V-Twin Transmission 5 speed manual Wheelbase 56.3 in. Seat height 30.4 in. Weight 393 lb. (dry) 412 lb. (wet) Fuel capacity 2.9 gal The Honda Hawk GT NT650 motorcycle was designated as model RC31 and was designed by Toshiaki Kishi, and was the second Honda with "Pro-Arm" suspension bike after the RC30 VFR750R. The Japanese model was named the Bros. The RC model designation is for bikes up to 750 cc, though the Honda Pacific Coast (PC800) has an engine of more than 750 cc and a model designation of RC34. 650 cc Honda Hawk GT The Hawk GT was one of the first modern naked bikes along with the Yamaha SRX, which were both released several years before the Ducati Monster and eventually the Suzuki SV650. The Hawk GT is often described as a cult bike.[1] Contents 1 North American model2 European model3 Japan model4 Notes5 References6 External links North American model The US model NT650, Hawk GT 647, RC31 was introduced in 1988 and produced through 1991. Priced above other entry-level models and only slightly below many 600cc sport bikes, the Hawk GT did not sell well in American markets.[2] There are only very minor changes between the 1988 model year and the 1989-1991 model years. In 1989, the front suspension damper rods were changed to have only two (rather than four for the 1988) holes. The front brake calipers were also changed to have screw-on covers over the mounting pins. In 1991, the oil lines were run internally through the engine, rather than externally and only a handful of 1991 model year bikes actually made it into the United States, making the 1991 the rarest vintage Hawk in America. The Canadian model was identical to the US model except for the colors. The 1988 model had a wet weight of 412 lb (187 kg). The 650 cc engine had an output of 58 hp (43 kW) @ 5000 rpm.[3] European model A cousin to the Hawk GT, the Revere was available in Europe from 1988. It had a steel frame, larger fuel tank (19 litres or 4.2 imperial gallons), a lower and stubbier silencer, shaft drive, single-sided swinging arm at rear with adjustable monoshock and a centre stand. The NTV650 replaced the Revere in 1993. This revised version of the early model had a side stand and no centre stand, different carburettors, conventional one-piece tubular handlebar and longer silencer. The engine power dropped from 60 down to 57bhp (Motor Cycle News review). The NTV650 was replaced in 1997 by the Deauville, basically an NTV650 with a 3/4 fairing (touring style) and fixed panniers. http://www.motorcyclenews.com/upload/838/images/aMNT651996SB-01.jpgNTV650 Japan model 400 cc Honda Bros Named the Bros in Japan, (The Model name Bros being derived from Brothers in reference to the 400cc and 650cc versions which were conceived together as brothers), the NT came in 400 and 650 cc (24 and 40 cu in) versions. After Honda stopped exporting the Hawk in 1992, they continued the Bros in Japan for one more year. A close ratio gear box (which drops into the Hawk) different wheels, and lower clip-ons were the major changes. A Motor Cycle News review said the Bros 400 is "heavy, underpowered and outdated, ... but surprisingly nice to ride – they’re well balanced, steer well and the engine is flexible, torquey and characterful given its 33bhp output. The Bros has a comfy, semi-upright café racer riding position."[4]
