1996 Triumph Daytona Super III This is a very special bike. Triumph produced this extremely limited edition bike from 1994 to 1996. Producing 300 bikes over three years for sale world wide. 150 of these Super III's were shipped to the United States. This may be the lowest production bike Triumph has ever produced that has it's own designation in NADA guides. What makes this bike special over regular Daytona's of the same vintage? There are a number of special advantages to choosing the Super III. First, Triumph added very nice carbon fiber accents all around the bike to include a gauge cluster surround, a front fender, a chain guard and rear tire hugger. The factory carbon fiber on this bike is in excellent condition. Next Triumph added two sets of 6 piston brake calipers to the front wheel making for unbelievable braking power. Finally Triumph handed off the stock engine to formula one racing legend Cosworth to add their touches. They increased power from 97bhp to 115bhp while also lightening the bike. All in all this makes for a very exciting vintage sport bike. The 1996 Super III had an MSRP of $14,995 when purchased new from a Triumph dealer and this one added $2,500 for the 3 to 1 racing header and Triumph racing exhaust. This is an 18 year old motorcycle with just over 15,000 miles, I have owned the bike for the past eight years. The bike comes with original owners manual and pigtail for battery tender. It has been extremely well maintained. It is always stored in the garage on a trickle charger, serviced every year and driven regularly. My wife and I are purchasing a new home and unfortunately the Triumph must go to a new lucky owner. This Super III is 100% stock other than the added Triumph racing exhaust and 3 to 1 header added to the bike by the dealer. In April 2014 the bike was completely serviced and all fluids flushed and replaced, new starter and starter clutch, new chain and sprockets and the battery and grips were replaced. The tires were replaced last summer and have been driven less than 800 miles. I would rate this bike at 8.5 out of 10 as compared to brand new. This bike needs nothing. Feel free to fly into Dulles International Airport and ride this one home no matter where you live. If you have never ridden a Triumph Triple you are in for a treat. The power builds quickly after 3,000 RPM's and is linear through redline at 9,500 RPM's with loads of torque. It is not at all like the asian imports as it was built for a taller average european rider so you do not feel cramped on this bike. It is comfortable for all day rides down meadow filled back roads or through mountain twisties. In my opinion it is the perfect balance of size, weight, torque and speed. Also the racing header and exhaust sound amazing after cracking the throttle and winding through the gears. I will be driving this vehicle daily while it is for sale so the miles listed will increase slightly.
