Vehicle Detail
For my 3rd and final listing, the reserve is set well below the last auction end, and well below the buy it now price. Happy bidding. Here is the description, "without the hype" (per Motorcycle Ed from AZ): This is an all original, fully operational, PRE-rebuild CB77. This bike spent years caked in Iowa mud which sealed it like a cocoon. The first thing you look for in finding a classic Super Hawk is paint good enough to keep. There are numerous small scratches, and it shows it's age, but the paint is bright with a priceless patina and the scratches are without rust. Usually, the tank, headlight bucket, fork covers and shock covers take the worst beatings, or worse, have severe sun fading. Not here, the critical pieces are the best. The worst scratches are on the swing arm and frame, and are easily touched up. No frame-out repaint required. The next thing you look for is original parts. This Super Hawk is 100% original as far as I can tell, down to the plug wires. If your aim is show-quality, you'll replace much more than if you prefer original, even if it shows some age (as long as it has character) ... (this 305 wins over everyone it meets). The next thing you worry about in a classic is rust. There's a little on the frame that can easily be touched up and repaired. No major repainting. The inside of the tank has been lightly flushed to inspect for rust. A professional flush wouldn't hurt, but no rust issues or need for relining, etc. The chrome is bright with some age and wear scratches, but none big enough to worry about. The pipes are loud. Not blown out, but loud. The right has a D-I-Y-welded patch. (I like them. The bike looks and sounds bad-ass.) One caller pointed out my prior comment about the bike's electrical features "healing" was probably due to the prior owner using a power washer to remove the mud. The neutral light now works 100%, the electric starter slips, but works most of the time when the bike is warm. The tail light is not working yet. The headlights, tach and speedo all work. Tires, battery, chain and sprocket are the only things replaced so far. It ran the day I took it off the truck and I've been riding it for a year with nothing more than gas, an air filter, adding oil (day one, not since) and two carb cleaning/adjustments. The bike comes with two keys, new emblems, a clear CA title and current tags (a good trick since that year blinkers were optional and not purchased), and copies of all paperwork, online versions of owners manual, service manual, and parts catalog. I've used JC Motors a few times for shipping bikes, they're pretty good. This bike is listed locally, and may be sold at any time. While remarkably reliable, I don't yet consider this vintage bike an everyday rider. Feel free to ask questions. I'll discuss condition, needs, and logical plans for restoration with any serious bidder.
