Vehicle Detail

Just a note: When you zoom close on the pictures, some make the car appear to have a lot of scratches. This is just glare from the sun. There are a few scratches accrued over years, but nothing major. VERY LOW RESERVE !!!VERY LOW RESERVE !!! B Reserve is well below Buy-It-now priceMechanic Special Please watch the detailed video at:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N9_S7O3XZ7Y&feature=youtu.be Please read the full description !!!Needs Transmission Work!!!Not Drivable!!! Must be towed!!! It has come time to sell our 2000 Lexus RX300. We have owned this SUV for over 6 1/2 years and have thoroughly enjoyed the comfortable, luxurious attributes. We purchased the RX300 from a private party in January, 2008. At that time it had 79K miles on it. It has been my wife's daily driver since then. The car is the front-wheel drive model, not the all-wheel drive, so you will get better gas mileage. It has 150,800 (approx.) miles on it but runs great. The a/c is ice cold and all power windows/locks/alarm/wipers work. The sunroof works perfectly. The exterior of the car is in great shape for the age. To my knowledge, there is only a very small rust area, shown in the pics where the driver front fender meets the bumper. That's it. There is a trailer hitch which is rusty, but the car itself is not.The car has 4 new tires within the last year with tons of tread left on them.New Brake pads and rotors last year. The interior shows some wear as would be expected, but overall is in great shape. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------We were driving the car home from Milwaukee last weekend when the transmission failed. We had driven almost 2 hours at highway speeds with no problem. We stopped for food and noticed the car shuddered a bit when pulling into the restaurant. It seemed OK as we started on home. About 6 miles down the road it became sluggish and couldn't maintain speed. We pulled to the side and found at that time, it would not move in any direction. I had AAA tow it to Robinson Auto in Aurora who has done work on my vehicles in the past. They called the next day to inform me it was something to do with the transmission and they did not do internal trans. work. After discussing it at length, we decided it is probably time for a change of vehicles, so I had the car towed to my house just west of Aurora, where it is now.I want to be as honest as possible, so here are the things I know that need work:First and foremost, as mentioned above, the transmission does need work. I have seen transmission rebuild kits on ebay for $200-$300 if someone had the mechanical knowledge to do it themselves. I do not. The car will have to be towed. It cannot be driven. The buyer is responsible for arranging towing for the car. When the car is started cold, the serpentine belt whines for about a minute or two. Once the car warms up, the noise goes away. The windshield has a crack about 12" long on the driver side. This happened a month or two ago and we planned to fix it but didn't get around to it.The bright lights are inoperable. I'm not sure if it is a switch or something else. The low-beams, brakes, running lights, interior lights, turn signals, flashers all work fine but the brights will not engage. At some point, the car will have to have the timing belt replaced. The original owner said it was done before we got it, but we have not had it replaced since we have owned it. Fortunately, the Lexus V6 engine is not one that can be permanently damaged by trying to start it if the belt were to break. There is a trailer hitch on the car. The wiring for the trailer is not hooked up correctly. We haven't used it in some time so this was not an issue for us. The title is a clean and clear Illinois title in my name issued in 2008. No Scams here!! Again, this car is being sold at VERY LOW RESERVE !!!! VERY LOW RESERVE !!!! VERY LOW RESERVE !!!!! Reserve is WELL below Buy-It-Now price !! So, there you have it. Yes, it needs transmission work, along with a few other things. But, it is still a VERY nice car for the age. I accept Paypal or CASH ONLY !!! No checks of any kind will be accepted !!! Full Payment must completely clear all institutions before car will be allowed to leave my property !!! A $200 deposit is required within 48 hours of auction's end or the vehicle will be re-listed. Full payment is required within 7 days of auction's end or the vehicle will be re-listed. If you look at the completed listings, you will find my Buy-It-Now price is lower than recent sales of RX300's which also need transmission work. I have been as honest as possible, but I strongly encourage any bidders to come inspect the car before bidding to be sure there are no disappointments. Please watch the detailed video at:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N9_S7O3XZ7Y&feature=youtu.be Please CHECK MY FEEDBACK AND BID WITH COMPLETE CONFIDENCE !!!!! 100% POSITIVE FEEDBACK !!!! Feel free to call or email with any questions. Home phone: 630-556-3955Cell: 630-709-3955 I should also mention that the car is for sale locally so I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. I would encourage using the Buy It Now feature to avoid disappointment. The car is located 35 miles west of Chicago, 5 minutes off of I-88, 2 miles from the Aurora, IL Airport.-- Very easy to get to. On Jul-12-14 at 10:32:13 PDT, seller added the following information: Hi again. Just adding additional information. A gentleman came to look at the RX300 and he says it is actually AWD, not 2WD. The transmission in this SUV is the U140F which is the AWD version. I looked under the car and sure enough, there is a transfer case in the back. All this time I thought we were driving a 2WD and it was actually full time AWD. No wonder it handles so well in the snow!!!
