Vehicle Detail

Up for sale is my 2001 F-150 XL CNG. The vehicle is in VERY nice shape for its age. Looks, runs, and drives excellent. Optionally equipped with hands-free cellular device (Parrot), trailer brake controller, sprayed-on bedliner, and custom Aluminum diamond plate CNG tank cover located in the bed. This vehicle was formerly owned by a municipality in the central San Joaquin Valley and it appears to have received excellent maintenance over it's lifetime. Pros: No fluid leaks of any kind. Air blows ICE COLD (the coldest A/C of any car I've ever owned). Starts easy every time, accelerates effortlessly with very adequate power, and transmission shifts perfectly. Overall cosmetic condition is very good. Overall mechanical condition is excellent. With the standard three-tank 3600 psi design, the range is excellent: (my best is 329 miles before the "low fuel" light came on. Fuel mileage on the highway is usually around 16-18 mpg. Current smog certificate valid through July 1st. Registered for the next 11 months (through April 2015). Vehicle comes with valid carpool stickers (new owner will have to transfer in to their name with DMV; fee: $8) so you can drive in the HOV lane, even with only one person in the vehicle. Cons: Normal minor cosmetic issues associated with a vehicle of this age. Minor dings and scratches, small ding in left side of rear bumper, minor scratches on door from careless sticker removal (not me), chipping paint in roof gutter rails (very common for this era of original Ford paint). Tires are weather cracked on sidewalls (more so on passenger side), very small hole in passenger side of bench seat, stitching on rear of seat coming unraveled on headrest. "Theft" light blinks on the dash intermittently. (Very faint, and very quickly, only visible at night, and you have to look closely.) Right rear tire has an extremely slow leak. Note the missing Ford emblem on the grill...I have a brand new, OEM replacement which will be installed before the new owner picks it up. Volume knob on radio is really sensitive (likely dirty knob control), and the #1 present button doesn't seem to like the cooler weather. On the "con" list above, I'm being pretty picky....In general, I can't say anything bad about this truck. It's not bad looking, it runs perfectly, and most importantly it's easy and CHEAP to drive with fuel costs of around $2.35/gge where I live.....Yeah, it's a little lacking on options, but all these early CNG trucks were. Note:!! I drive this vehicle daily and my commute is 100+ miles per day, so the mileage at the time of transfer could vary by as much as 1000 miles. Just to be clear....This vehicle is a dedicated NGV (Natural Gas Vehicle). It does not run on gasoline, nor is it bi-fuel vehicle. I'd pefer cash, but I will accept Paypal (however the buyer will be responsible for the PayPal fees), and I will also accept a check, but I will hold the vehicle until it clears so you'll have to send it to me ahead of time. The vehicle is to be picked up in Fresno, CA 93705.On Jun-09-14 at 23:48:46 PDT, seller added the following information: Additional information added 6/9/14: I've had several questions about the tanks, so let me provide a little more information on this and a couple other things I thought of. The tanks are original to the vehicle. This truck was never a gasoline truck and it came with these same tanks since new (judging by the dates). All CNG tanks have an expiration date; these expire in July 2015. Is it physically possible to use them after this date? Yes. Can you still license the vehicle after this date? I am not aware of any restrictions at this time. Who polices this? I don't know of any agency, but you may need to pass an inspection to get access to some network of stations. Please do your homework on the issue of tanks and refueling if you're unfamilar with this concept. If you're thinking of retanking and are concerned about the cost, consider these numbers. My reserve price plus the cost of retanking is about $20k less than the cost of any new natural gas vehicle. Even if that new vehicle is a Civic GX (CNG) that gets 35 miles/gge, the incremental cost to purchase the new vehicle will take about 16.5 years to payback (assumes $2.35 per gge and 15k miles per year driven). Translation: retanking isn't as expensive as it seems. In my original list of "cons", I forgot to mention this truck looks like it used to have toolboxes installed. As a result, there are several small holes through the tops of the bed rails. It doesn't look bad an isn't noticeable until you're almost right up on top of it.
