Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on a 1972 Ford Pinto three door Runabout that was purchased from the original family. This car was used at their cottage in the summer, and when the cottage was closed in the winter, the car was stored at the cottage. The Pinto is 95% original paint with both 1/4 panels being touched up in the 1980's. The interior is 100% original with no rips or tears. About the car: It is a very early built 1972, (built in November 1971), with several 1971 characteristics, it came without a cigarette lighter, no passenger door light switch, and the mechanical rear lift gate hinges. Options are the 2.0 liter, 2bbl carburetor, automatic transmission, protection group, front and rear bumper guards, front disc brakes, accent group, and factory monaural AM-FM, and, yes, it does work. The car is in super, unmolested, condition for a 42 year old survivor. About the body: It is Ginger metallic, and has very little rust. The rust is behind the rear 1/4 panels, and is very small, see photos, (you need to get on your hands and knees to see the rust). The underside of the car is real clean with only surface rust in various areas, the car was not undercoated, so you can see what you have. The paint does have scratches, small dings, and does show signs and wear of a 42 year car. About the mechanics: The car runs and drives as it should, all electrics work as they should. The carburetor was rebuilt, newer brakes and wheel cylinders, timing belt was replaced at 40,000 miles, per the previous owner. The automatic transmission shifts as it should. The car has all ID tags, including the engine ID tag, the carburetor ID tag, rear end ID tag, body buck ID tag, and both the battery heat shield, and the exhaust manifold heat shield are intact, see engine photo. The interior: As stated, it is one hundred percent original, and has no rips or tears. There is no cracking, or tears in the padded dash, and all gauges function as they should. The AM-FM radio plays well and loud. Also included with the car is the original dealership envelope from Dean Sellers Ford, (I do not have a window sticker or build sheet), but I do have the original owner card, and the assembly line inspection cards for when the car rolled off the assembly line, the car was built at the St Thomas Assembly plant in Canada. Also included are misc items shown in the photos. This is a hard to find, SMALL BUMPER, Pinto that is all original except for some paint touch up, it is UNMOLESTED, and complete, and not altered in anyway. The car is being sold in as is condition, with no warranty implied. Buyer is responsible for all shipping costs and shipping arrangements. Feel free to ask questions.
