Vehicle Detail
1961 Studebaker Champ pickup streetrod. I am selling this vehicle for the granddaughter of the original owner. From 1961-1985 the truck was used in a Texas business until the owner retired. The Studebaker went into storage until 2000, when the granddaughter decided to build the truck in honor of her granddad. The truck was delivered to a shop in New Mexico where a design for an outstanding streetrod was developed that included the following: Camaro front suspension, S-10 differential and rear springs, 1987 Chevrolet V8 engine with a high performance camshaft, 700R-4 overdrive automatic transmission, disk brakes, AC, PS, PB, coated block hugger tube headers, aluminized 2 1/4 inch exhaust pipes with Flowmaster mufflers, new interior, Ford Ranger bed & gas tank, Corvette wheels, new tires, and Garnet red paint. Frame was sandblasted & powder coated black. All metal work and fabrication is first class. Runs & drives great! Clear Texas title. In 2003, the granddaughter ran out of money and the truck was placed in storage lacking only interior and glass. In 2013, I transported the truck to Lubbock for completion by Merlin's Rods & Customs' Keith Fox. Keith removed the gas tank for cleaning and lines eplaced,, along with a new electric fuel pump, new master cylinder, and rebuilt 4-barrel carburetor. With the truck running properly, the original glass was installed using all new rubber and a complete interior installed, along with new tires on Corvette wheels. This little truck is an attention-getter that performs very well. The Ranger bed looks factory (it is actually more stylish than the original). More than $35,000 invested (most receipts included). A scrapbook of before, during, and after build photos is included. The auction also includes a cd from a photo shoot. For some reason the Ebay listing would not accept the pictures from the shoot (too big). Ebay questions answered promptly. Because the truck is for sale locally, I reserve the right to end the auction early. Don Garnett, Lubbock, Texas
