1977 Pinto "Cruisin Wagon" For sure, this is not your Grandpa's Pinto... This ride has classic looks, high performance, and economy... It accelerates with awesome authority! I have owned this car just short of four years. It is garaged in winter, or when not in use... I acquired the vehicle equipped as it is now advertised, and every thing the previous owner/builder stated about the work, has been found to be correct... I have driven it on a couple of long trips, and it is reliable, fun, and spirited... It's powered by a turbo charged Merkur/Ranger, fuel injected hybrid, (2.3L). A new Ranger crate short block was used, then topped with an overhauled, ported, Merker cylinder head and Injection. Power is transmitted to a Borg Warner T-5, five speed gearbox, coupled to an 8.8 inch limited slip, 3.40 ratio differential, . It can "EASILY" shame a lot of V-8's ! For those who enjoy impressing their friends, it has an attention getting "Whoosh" of air from the turbo "blow off Valve", heard between shifts. Best part is that it gets an honest 24/26 mpg on the highway (If driven sensibly). Approximately 10,155 miles on engine, speedo replaced with "0" miles unit when engine installed. Motor breaths into a 3" exhaust system. Engine installation & modifications were done in a high quality manner. Front disc brakes (no power), drum rears. NO leaks of fluids. FEATURES: Quality "amateur" base coat/clear coat paint, over a very straight body, with no rust issues. Paint still has a mirror like gloss, however there are some rock chips, especially along the bottom. Original factory color was Black. Interior is a mix of good and not so good. One seam in the headliner has come unstitched. Dash pad has a crack. Back area is very nice and well carpeted. Seats are beautiful... Non-stock door panels, created to accommodate larger speakers. After market power windows, remote door locks, & electric antenna. All (tinted) glass is good. Eagle machined billet Alloy wheels, B.F. Goodrich "Euro TA's 195/50R-15 in front, and Ventus Sport K104 245/40 ZR-17 in rear. It comes with tow bar mounts installed on front bumper. These accommodate a Harbor Freight tow bar (not supplied). For "Tunes", no disappointment there either... New JVC CD tuner w/USB port, fed into (2) 60 watt per channel Sony amplifiers, and (1) Alpine 220Watt (monaural) amp for the woofer. Amps are mounted in R/L quarter panels. Speakers are Rockford Fosgate "Punch" 5.5 inch with (2) tweeters with electronic cross over filters in front doors. Rears are Clarion "co-axial 5x7 inch, and the woofer is a Pioneer 12 inch, skillfully concealed in the spare tire well. All speaker wires are "monster cable. It's a "Turbo-charged dance hall"... DRIVE TRAIN: There are no drive train issues, clutch and transmission are smooth, engine starts reliably, New radiator (OEM type copper/brass), and new hoses (except heater). Battery, is 6 months old. This car is very easy to service and maintain. THE GOOD: All lights and gauges, power windows & locks, work properly. Strong reliable engine. Tires have about 50% tread remaining. THE NOT SO GOOD: NO air conditioning, NO power steering. Every where I go with this car, people are impressed, and render lavish complements... This is a very rare car indeed! A performance rig, that won't break the bank to drive... EXTRAS: There is a big box of misc parts, including a rare 110mph instrument cluster, and a Mustang II power steering rack. (condition of used parts is "untested") PAYMENT: $500.00 deposit due via PayPal within 48 hours from close of auction.
