Vehicle Detail
1971 Camaro RSSS, routisserie restored from a solid Oklahoma car. It is numbers matching, paint matching original code, with the protectoplate to prove it. I have a show binder of most receipts/service records from life of car up to restoration. This includes the order and build sheets, protectoplate, etc....this bolters the show aptitude of this car well. The original miles are near 80,000 but less than 1,000 since full restoration in 2010. RUST FREE. This is a true second generation collectors item that has lived it's restored life in a heated garage and has not seen salt or snow. Full frame off restoration with all frame components black powder coated to look factory new. The paint is is a high end Urethane clear coat metallic green factory matched to the original color. Black Z28 stripes (I have an OEM external Z28 badge kit to make this a Z28 clone in hand) were added to the cowel induction hood to help set it off on the street (and to fit the intake/air cleaner beneath). The finish of the Z28 stripes is incredible as the seams are inpalpable under the thick shiny clear coat on this car. The only "not matching" part of this car that I am aware of is the black (instead of antique green) interior that this care sports. I simply couldn't handle the green color interior. Most of the interior is OEM replacement black including the new dash, console, carpet, mats, head liner, sail panels, sill plates, etc. There really are too many OEM new parts to list. Most of the items replaced were simply done as part of the complete restoration to avoid future maintenance problems. I am quite OCD in that regard. The abreviated list of new parts includes new brake rotors, clamps, pads, drums, stainless lines, wheel bearings, rear end bearings, axle bearings and seals, axle studs, girdled aluminum rear end cover, OEM leaf springs and 2" lowering front coil springs, shocks, full poly suspension and body mount bushing kit, upper and lower ball joints, u joints, fuel lines, electric fuel pump, MSD distributor and coil, high end plug wires, heater fan, 4 core aluminum radiator, aluminum high RPM flex fan, billet serpentine belt kit, power steering pump, ball joints, throttle cable, transmission cooler and lines, 3500 stall torque converter, 350 turbo transmission rebuild with shift kit, transmission shift cable, kick down cable, OEM gas tank with pickup and straps, 3" stainless steel exhaust with stainless steel large bore headers (throaty sound is incredible), etc etc. As you can see in the pics, I added a NG night glo 5" dash kit to the car....everything works. The Sony sound system with Infinity speakers sound good (if you prefer to listen to that instead of the purr of the engine). I did replace the factory front seat belts with a much handier (safer) retractable shoulder strap safety belt kit....Honestly, no expense was spared. Restoration and purchase costs of this auto total over $32000. The original 350 numbers matching engine with original carb, heads, intake, oil pan, etc is crated and in heated garage storage. There is a numbers matching built 383 stroker in the car and included in the sale. It features a 500hp, full roller top end, forged internals, 11:1 compression with high flow aluminum heads (able to run premium without pre-ignition risk), low whine gear timing set, high volume oil pan, MSD ignition, demon street demon carb, aluminum high rise intake...the list simply goes on and on.... This engine offers a manageable but increadibly fun power plant. I have never track raced this car as it is a hobby store/driver. I do find on the street it simply will not hook up and would need wrinkle wall (or similar soft compound) tires to compliment the horsepower if the buyer wanted it to perform to its potential. I have a competition engineering weld on frame tie kit but never installed it as I was never interested in a full on drag race rig and didn't run any risk of tweaking the car with the rare times I've driven it since completed. Of note, if you don't want the 383 stroker engine, re-installation of the original engine may be negotiated prior to the end of the listing. It would require a little lead time, but I would be happy to make a timely engine swap once the car sale is completed and paid for. My opinion is to keep it as built and swap in the true factory original if you need the extra "original" points at car shows if interested. I truly will miss having this toy in the garage. At this point the project is complete and I have other aspirations. Please feel free to ask any and all questions. I have done my best to accurately represent this car well. It is in great shape, showroom clean and fresh and ready for you to enjoy. I am aware the market hasn't supported the true value of high end restored muscle cars of late and my loss will truly be your gain. On May-13-14 at 18:59:49 PDT, seller added the following information: Due to popular request...I have added some details and pics to the listing. It is has a 10 bolt rear end with a thick cast "girdle" in place. The yolk is forged. 3.73 posi rear end. disc front and drum rear brakes..... To help prove this is a real deal numbers matching RS SS, see the pics added. The VIN and cowl tags are original and matching to the build sheet/window sticker, PROTECTO PLATE, original vehicle delivery inspection sheet, MULTIPLE Oklahoma vehicle yearly inspection sheets, numerous service receipts, etc that ARE ALL INCLUDED in the vehicle history binder I am including with the sale. I have much more detail including the ORIGINAL OWNER's Manual, a decade or so of old insurance binders, parts receipts, a vehicle owner history list, Camaro "VIN" decoding manual, and so much more. I don't know how else you could find a clean, documented, protecto plate proving 71 RSSS. I must add the cowl tag photo has "barely legible" numbers in the photo. It is legible in person. I found it impossible to get a clearer pic sneaking my camera between the hood and tag. This portion of the cowl was blasted, primed, and painted as part of the restoration...all of which reduced the legibility of a 43 year old car's cowl tag. New OEM identical tags are available and in my mind would not embelish the authenticity of the car. Thus, I never proceeded replacing the original. The photo of the build sheet clearly demarks all the options this car was sold with in early 1971. GOOD LUCK BIDDING ALL!!
