Vehicle Detail
VIN 9114410103 1974 Carrera Targa ~114k miles, #103 of 246 brought to US. Originally a Gulf blue car! I've been driving this car for the past 15 years, putting a lot of maintenance and slight restoration into her. It has a lot of positives and a couple of faults I’ll note below. Car runs great, has the original 2.7 CIS and 915 trans and “R” case. Engine was rebuilt previous to me and is very clean. Here are some of the details: - Strong running 2.7 CIS, updated tensioners, tune up, valve adj. and most everything else new. It’s only let me down once in 15 years when the CDI box went out a block from home 2 years ago (all new ignition now). No head stud issues, no heat exchangers, well performing CIS, runs cool, not burning oil, new cap/rotor and Pertronix replacing the points. Only Mahle filters and Brad Penn 20w50 Oil. - Cold start with hand throttle takes 2-3 attempts, warm start great. Uses very little oil and very rarely get a puff on cold start. - Transmission shifts well, new clutch and flywheel recently and fresh Swepco fluid. Original “S” brakes work well, new pads last year. - 16” x 7/9" Fuchs are in fantastic shape & new tires and alignment this month. - Original duck tail in good shape, Targa top is from a later car and a little tight. Orig. Targa frame incld. I would put a Targa top restoration on the to do list. I would not consider this a rain tight top but it looks good. - Guards red was a repaint previous to my purchase, it’s a professional job and has nice finish. Small door ding and hood ding. The paint has two scratches I’ve been reluctant to color sand out. - My guess is the right front fender was replaced with the color change. The body lines are straight, hood and fender gaps good, doors could use adjustment. - New H4 headlight update with chrome trim rings, have OE eyelids included. - Has Bursch headers/muffler and it sounds excellent, I have a quieter muffler also if desired. - Weltmiester sways, Targa interior stiffing bars, front strut bar, Bilsteins, new tie rods. Suspension is stiffer than stock and handles great. With the Carrera flares in the rear it fits a 245 tire well. - Windshield is original and shows some wear but I can include a new Sigla OE replacement too! Chrome trim on window is nice, Targa bar is nice, rubber seals in good shape. - Clean cloth seats (not original) RS door cards, new dash from later car, crack in heater control panel but will include replacement. Momo steering wheel, aluminum pedals, no radio (OEM delete panel). - Gauges and clock all working, trim rings could use a refinish. I have aluminum rings I can include. - Ventilation blower motor currently out of car, I have some parts but this is an area to finish if desired. The ’74 Carrera’s are becoming very collectable and here is a chance to get a great driver with the potential to restore back to rare Gulf blue at a fair price! * She is in the shop for alignment, tires, and tune up stuff, will get additional pictures soon * On May-10-14 at 08:08:29 PDT, seller added the following information:
