Vehicle Detail

What we have here is a very, very nice 1965 mustang. This is a C code car, originally with factory air that has been modernized. This car has 431 miles on since it was completely disassembled and ground up restored. This vehicle was brought to my shop for some minor repair. The customer never came to pick it up and after 2 1/2 years of trying to get hold of him, we finally applied for a lien and now own the vehicle and have a clear title. The previous owner told me he has over 24K invested into this vehicle and looking at it, I believe every bit it. Everything on this vehicle that I have looked at or worked on appears to be new. When I had the car up on the lift, everything under it appears to be new. When we had the wheels off, every brake component is new, this car has power brakes, and AC but no power steering. The previous owner told me the engine an transmission are brand new. The engine I believe is a 302, but have not pulled the starter to check it casting number. It starts right up and purrs like a kitten, it has plenty of power going down the road. The engine sounds and feels like it has a very mild cam in it. It is topped off with an Edelbrock 600 CFM carb, aluminum manifold and valve covers. Again, everything I see under the hood appears to be brand new. The engine has headers and duel exhaust. The car has been sitting in my shop for the past couple of weeks and has not left a drop on the floor. An inspection of the front and rear suspension shows all parts appear to be brand new. The air conditioner is a Vintage Air system, The customer told me that it is completely installed but has never been charged. The paint and body are almost perfect. I can see a couple of wear marks on the fenders where it had a cover over it. I also see a spot on the lower, left front door that appears to be a crack in the paint and a spot of rust showing. I had a local body shop look at it and was told it was an easy fix and a common problem with older mustangs. There are several nicks in the paint that you must be right on top of to see.The interior is new, no rips, no blemishes, it is almost perfect. The dash is new, apparently when they put the dash on, they left the trim off that goes below the window. The result is the dash cover is curling up. The company that cleaned this car said the dash is still very pliable, and if the trim was to be installed, it would settle right down. I have a pile of trim, but do not know if the correct piece is there. The wheels are American racing. The original hub caps are in the trunk. The tires are FIRELLI P4 P205 / 65R15 all around. They are in new condition as are the wheels. If I had to rate this car, I would give it a 9.5. It is not perfect, but is one of the nicest 65's I've seen in many years. Mechanically the only thing I know that doesn't work is the fuel gauge. The only thing I see personally that I would fix would be to put an electric choke on it. This car is perfect for someone that wants to own a vintage mustang, but doesn't want to build it themselves. Everything has already been done except for a few minor things. The customer told me he was building it as a driver and took no short cuts.
