Vehicle Detail
I am re-listing this bike because the winner of the bid last week did not want to pick the bike up in person and would not pay for shipping. If you are not able to pick up the bike please do not bid on it. It is located 25 miles north of Atlanta in Suwanee, Georgia. We are selling my son's XR80R Honda dirt bike. The bike runs well and has not been used in 4-5 years. Fresh gas and a quick cleaning of the carb jets and it started right up.I just installed a new front tire and tube. The back tire is in good shape. We are the second owners of this bike and used it for a couple years before he moved up to a CRF100. Time to clean out the basement and get rid of a few of our bikes. I have included a picture of the casing where the shifter exits the side of the engine. The casing was damaged and a piece cracked off during a ride. I believe a large rock or log hit in just the right place under the engine to do this. It does not effect the shifting or the performance of the bike but I am obligated to fully disclose this defect .The picture shows part of the casing cracked off at the exit point of the shifter . It does not effect shifting nor does it leak much if any oil from the effected area . A stainless steel band was installed around the shifter exit point to stabilize and strengthen the area that was cracked off. I had the Honda dealer inspect it with the intent to have it fixed or replaced. They said that it would cost too much to have the lower end casing replaced ($400+) and it would not be worth it since it was not effecting the shifting and the bike was running fine. I guess one could replace the lower casing cheaper themselves if they had the time and knowledge. My son rode the bike many times after this happened and it shifted and ran fine. I will let the market determine the value of the bike with this defect and therefore have started the bid lower because of the issue. My feeling is one could continue to ride it fine without fixing it. Terms are 100% cash at time of pickup in person. This is a no reserve auction.
