Up for bid is a 1976 Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser wagon. Originally a North Dakota car that wound up in Kentucky and now here. Body is pretty solid, undercarriage is exceptionally solid. 455 Olds engine runs GREAT - all new gaskets - no leaks. Transmission shifts great, but car has a gas leak (tank) and tranny leak (not the front seal.) Could be driven long distance with gas leak fixed and you check tranny fluid (does not pour out - loses about a quart a month sitting.) A/C works, most power stuff works including clamshell (slow but works.) Add $250 for new tank plus $150 to install, or $100 to patch gas tank, if you want me to do either - otherwise, sold with leak. Condition Report ENGINE: Runs on all eight cylinders without smoking, missing or knocking. Engine runs at proper temperature. Newer battery & good charging system. Starts easy and runs strong; idles smoothly. Engine has new intake/valve cover/carb gaskets, rebuilt carb so it idles and runs great and doesnt leak. TRANSMISSION: Performs beautifully. Engages gears quickly and shifts through all forward gears and reverse with good downshift and torque converter performance. Clean fluid with no burn odors. Leaks a quart a month - you have to check it regularly. EXTERIOR: Body: Body is in good shape with no major dents but a small one on left front fender/header as seen in pics (headlight bucket has a crack) and one low on left quarterpanel as seen in pics. Some body rust as seen in pics - only the one small spot around the back window, some above fender skirts and in spare tire well and thats it - no other rust-through. Paint: Paint is almost all original and needs a repaint. Wood: Wood is faded and needs replacing. Other: Stainless trim is in good shape, roof rack in good shape, bumpers are nice - a couple chrome chips but nice. Undercarriage is extremely nice with no rust - see the pics. Underhood sheet metal, tailgate sill and door jambs/bottoms have no rust as seen in pics. Hubcaps are in excellent shape. INTERIOR: Interior of the car is fair. Dash, drivers seat and front door panels have cracks/vinyl damage. Other seats in great shape, headliner nice, carpets are good but not perfect. Steering wheel is in nice shape. No smoke or pet odors. ELECTRICAL STUFF: All inspection items work (lights, horn, wipers, etc.) Side power windows all work, clamshell tailgate works great but rear window moves very slowly up and down. Power locks work on all but right front door. A/C works and blows cold but only on high; heat works same way. Cruise control does not work. No radio. Drivers power seat does not work. DRIVEABILITY: Drives out nicely and steering is remarkably tight for one of these 71-76 wagons. Alignment is good, suspension is good. Brakes work well with good linings. Tires have about 70% tread remaining on a matched set of whitewall radials. Solid, quiet exhaust with no leaks. Except for the leaks noted above, no driveability complaints. Will meet you or your transporter at my location by appointment after 6 pm weekdays or anytime weekends. No administrative fee on this auction.
