Vehicle Detail
Here is an exceedingly rare opportunity to acquire a 1965 Jaguar 3.8S that is in incredible original condition featuring:Genuine California rust-free original conditionDocumented 3-owner car sold new on 10/3/64 to Agnes Brogle of Menlo Park, CASecond Owner from Oklahoma City was active JOCNA Member who treated the car as a show carOriginal Owner's Manual "package" includedOriginal Tool Kit includedRare - Original Air Conditioning System (fully functioning)Original upholstery in excellent condition with new Wilton Wool carpetingMostly original paint in excellent presentable conditionBrand New GM Transmission with Overdrive Conversion The 3.8S was the successor to the extremely popular and successful Mark-II incorporating very subtle exterior changes along with the significant improvement of utilizing the XK-E Type drive train including the independent rear suspension. Popular as Saloon car racers in the UK, these cars formed the definition of a true "Sports Sedan." In typical Jaguar fashion, the driver and occupants are treated to extensive use of wood trim, high quality upholstery, and a full complement of traditional instruments. Sold new in California, this 3.8S features original Air Conditioning which is fully functioning (though converted to R-134). The A/C on these cars is located in the trunk and blows the cold air forward into the cabin. When I acquired this car, it had been parked for several years due to a failed automatic transmission. After much due diligence, I opted to replace the original transmission with a modern, reliable General Motors transmission that also features an overdrive. The conversion kit is from John's Cars and the car is an absolute delight to drive with this modification. Other recent service work performed on the car includes the following:Clean and refurbish complete fuel system including installation of new fuel pumps and rebuild of carburetorsFlush and service radiatorService A/C SystemReplace all belts and hosesinstall modern gear-reduction starterInstall spin-on oil filter conversionFreshen-up the door panels to refurbish notorious door pocketsFresh coat of lacquer on the wood trimComplete paint color sand and buff plus touch-up paint as needed Here are the things that I think should be done to this car by the next Owner:New Tires - the current tires have good tread but they are dry-rottedInstall Shift Quadrant from a Jaguar 420 so that the indicator matches the gear selection (this is due to the installation of GM transmission) When purchased, it was my intent to use this car as a regular summer-time driver. I have since acquired a different car that renders this Jaguar redundant in my collection. We are located very near O'Hare Airport and I encourage prospective buyers to call me to arrange an inspection and test drive of the car. Note respecting the mileage on the car: I can not certify the mileage on this car because I know that it has more than the 7,460 miles showing on the Odometer however; I am not sure if it is 107,000 miles or if the Speedometer has been changed. I do know that the car received a "21,000 Mile Service" in 1970 by the original owner. Please write me or call me with any questions or to arrange an Inspection. I will honor the Buy-It-Now of $19,500 even if the option goes away from E-Bay Listing however; you will need to contact me prior to the end of the Auction.
