Vehicle Detail

Let me start out and decode the sn for you. 9R02F100814 the "9" denotes a 1969. The "R" is the build site or San Jose CA. The "02" denotes "fastback" (GT). The "F" is for 302 engine and the 814 is the build #. Now, in the summer of 1968 this car was bought brand new by a gentleman who owned a large family business. Sadly, he passed away in 1976 and the car with only 31,000 miles on it got stored in the wooden floored, heated business warehouse for the next 30 years. His son looked at it often as it collected dust in the corner with the PLAN of “resurrecting” it, but just never did. Finally, in 2006, 30 years later, a collector of Mustangs (from his very town who had known of the car since NEW) approached the son and purchased it. It then sat in his personal house garage as he tinkered and polished and played with it in his spare time for the next 6 years. He only put about 1,000 miles a year on it. This is where I came in. I had a 23 T-bucket with a “stroker” engine, tunnel ram & dual quads that I was just “tired” of. It was not practical for me and barely held my golf clubs so I offered it out as a trade, either up or down. It interested him cuz he still had 7 other ‘69 or ‘70 Mustangs but always wanted a T-bucket so some 7-8 months after we began negotiations, we swapped cars. I had ALWAYS LOVED the 69-70 Mustang design and planned to make a TRULY RELIABLE yet economical, smooth running, MEAN sounding, GREAT LOOKING Muscle car out of this. It needed paint cuz the years under a tarp had taken its toll on the finish, but the body was PERFECT. Not a ding, dent or speck of rust anywhere on the car. NO bondo or filler ANYWHERE either. It was a light blue car and in my mind’s eye I had always envisioned it black with the side stripe outlined in red to match the red lipstick striped Pony interior so I painted it black. It came out PERFECT too. You can shave in the reflection off of the clear coat. Just to make SURE it performed without incident, I pulled the engine, rebuilt the carb…detailed the engine compartment, painted the block, replaced it and ALL the hoses, bushings and related components so that EVERYTHING worked as new. It DOES too. The hood mounted directional markers work. The windshield squinters’ do too. It has sequential tail lights, original rim blow horn and factory Ford power windows. The dash pad is like BRAND NEW. It has an aftermarket radio and twin speaker as it’s only “modification” in the stock bracket spot. It has the fold down rear seat, rear louvers, front and rear “Boss” spoilers and Boss stripe. It is NOT A BOSS! I just liked the combo so I used it. It has the four barrel carb and mild cam for what Ford called a 302 ci/ 302 hsp engine. It is a floor mounted automatic 3 speed that shifts AS NEW. Clean, crisp, immediate responsive shifting. I guess I should mention that the car now has only 37,000 ORIGINAL MILES ON IT. It was never spun or reset, it IS a true low mileage, NEVER cannibalized, survivor car. Now you can find “rebuilds”, or rehashes, or hacks that have been resurrected, but this is the REAL DEAL. Stock low mileage perfection that performs and shows like the day it left the showroom. As it stands, I certainly owe NOTHING on the car. I do not NEED the money the car will generate. Honestly, I don’t even want to sell it AND I have a 30x40 3 story barn to store it in but I just purchased a new Porsche Turbo Cabriolet and WOW….what a car THAT is, so the Mustang has taken second spot. I’m sure you must know someone in this situation. Heck, it might even be you so PLEASE UNDERSTAND, this car will NOT BE BOUGHT for a lowball offer. This is a timeless design and in PERFECT mechanical AND physical condition. It gets looks from young girls, kids, wrinkled old ladies, ALL the guys, I even saw a priest ogling it the other day. A 40 something year old woman walked completely around it too taking phone pix the other day. I went to the local car show recently with over 400 cars and it was voted a top 10 favorite for the night. Point is, it’s the total package. GREAT looking timeless design with a FLAWLESS perfect paint job in show stopping color combinations. GREAT running small V-8 for GREAT mileage (and throaty sound) yet plenty of get up and go. Automatic so even the wife can drive it easily. Everything works (except the current driver) and it doesn’t need a thing! I’m going to “offer” the car for sale in the event that YOU are a true perfectionist who wants a GENUINE low mileage survivor car that is absolute eye candy. I’ve set the reserve at $25K. Not at all unreasonable for a car with the history this one has, the LOW MILEAGE this one has, in the BONDO FREE, ACCIDENT FREE, RUST FREE perfect condition this one is in. Haggerty recently said the 69/70 Mustangs are in the top 10 of collector cars ready to explod in value. A guy had a rehash 429 (Boss CLONE) car at the show that was nice……but was pieced together from a bazillion mismatched parts and he wanted $49k for it. A GAS GUZZLING rehash for $50K or original perfection that you’ll drive FOREVER on a tank of gas???? Let me get this out too. I HAVE a truck. I HAVE a Harley. I HAVE the Porsche. I HAVE a boat, so NO TRADES……..PERIOD. The only thing I WILL trade for, is a pile of CA$H! I will be able to pick up SERIOUS potential buyers at the Worcester Airport if you want to fly in to see it. It can be picked up locally or I can accommodate a car hauler at my home for additional delivery charges. Also, I reserve the right to stop the auction at ANY TIME in case the car gets sold locally or for ANY other reason. Good luck and ask any questions you might have which I will answer totally honestly. I have collected cars for over 47 years, have had over 200 of them and this is right up at the top for quality. The car also has the GT500 wheels It has side marker lights AND back up lites (which were an option too). I did install a Heavy duty radiator and a NEW heater box (old one had a mouse nest and I didn’t want to smell mouse urine) Lastly, I found out that you have NO RECOURSE (after 48 hours) with Ebay when a stroker "buys" your car and then doesn't send the deposit like the guy did to me last Summer, so yes....this is the car that DID sell for well over my reserve (of $25k - same reserve now) last year and luckily for you.....here it is one last time. Good luck with your bidding and KNOW that with my 100% rating, I WILL answer any questions that you have honestly and timely. FranOn Apr-19-14 at 12:51:11 PDT, seller added the following information: NOTE:Sorry this has taken longer than I thought, but I JUST got done working. That said, here is a picture of the car down to BARE METAL. NO RUST, NO REPAIRS, NO DINGS, NO BONDO. All there IS, is an attempt by my buddies to bust my nuts by writing "camaro" down the side of it. My die hard Chevy buddies that is (cuz I used to have a 69 Camaro 454 4 speed) and that was their attempt at humor. I'm going out to take underside pix and interior pix, but that MAY not get posted til Easter AM. What I've described is WHAT IT IS! VERY nice interior. Rugs LIKE NEW. Dash LIKE NEW. Headliner LIKE NEW. Gettin the picture??? Lloyds mats, their BEST done w/ the red and silver Mustang logo to match the stripe and pony interior detail. This is a FINE fine car and I have an offer on it so DON'T DELAY. You can MAKE things happen. You can WATCH things happen.....or you can wonder.........WHAT HAPPENED????? Don't wait til it's gone cuz this is a one time deal. On Apr-19-14 at 14:16:56 PDT, seller added the following information: EXTRA PHOTOS ASKED FOR!!!!!! OK, I just got another Ebay lesson. It appears that the ONLY way I can "add" the pix of the interior and underside is to CANCEL THE AUCTION and begin again at ground zero. I refuse to do that. The best "option" that they gave me is to send INDIVIDUALS who requested photos their pix thru Ebay messaging. So, I'm sorry! I'm trying to accommodate. Any of you who want more pix please message me and I'll send them instantly. I doubt this will allow me to but you can TRY to go direct to my eee mail by typing my first name "fran" spell out the word "and" then "nan" (short for Nancy) do the symbol for "at" which is the little circle with the a in it and "net" then spell out the four letter word starting with Z for this number "0" and add the dot com. I'm not trying to be difficult but I don't know how else to get these to those who wanted them. I'll tell you this. The underside looks flawless. No "off roading" dings or dents or pucked in marks. The interior has NO TEARS or imperfections that I saw. The rugs or areas UNDER the rugs are NOT rotted and the rugs are as new. I have new hi end Lloyds Mustang rugs that go with it. Again, sorry but send me a mail and I"ll get you pix. Fran
